Re: Is it worth it? [demanding jobs vs time with family]

I really appreciate the robust conversation and discourse that my post has created. The posters who shared their personal experiences were reassuring that I am not alone in facing these challenges and it was encouraging that many of you have successfully found a balance that is working for your fami...

Re: Is it worth it? [demanding jobs vs time with family]

I can handle unvarnished opinions and I do not need bumper guards on the bowling lanes. Part of me wishes I had written my post as the "husband" and somehow I imagine that less posters would have told me to become a stay at home husband but I am not looking to get into a larger discussion on implici...

Re: Is it worth it?

Re: Is it worth it?

I appreciate the input but I am not a fan of "traditional family roles". The question to me is not whether one of us should stay home with the children but whether or not it is worth at least six figures a year to take less demanding jobs. Nothing is more important to us than family but I do not thi...

Is it worth it? [demanding jobs vs time with family]

My husband and I work very demanding jobs (at least 60-70 hours a week) and we have 2 beautiful children, a baby and a toddler. We are well-compensated for our demanding jobs. Our family is very important to us but our careers are also important to us. We are in our mid-thirties so we think of this ...

Health Insurance Help!

Hi All, We are currently on my husband's health insurance plan but he is about to switch jobs to a job that does not offer health insurance (this is a temporary position that is a long term investment in his career). My health insurance is a PPO plan that has great coverage but if I receive a promot...

This article is helpful as we have been trying to figure out whether to invest in the market or recast our mortgage to lower our payments to give ourselves more job flexibility. Thanks for posting.

Re: Recast a mortgage right at the begining

My husband and I just bought a house and our lender was very strict about knowing where our down payment funds were originating from which I think is standard practice these days. We just spoke to our lender (Wells Fargo) about recasting our loan and we can recast our mortgage at any time without a ...
