The AAII Stock Investor Pro software might suit you. You can screen the US universe by your criteria and rank quantitatively offline. The Shadow Stock Portfolio (SSP) is the screen discussed above; mkt cap 30-400 million. The farther away from large caps, the wackier the numbers, the more prayer inv...

Re: Did everyone in the early 80s have their money in CDs?

My high school buddy and I found a computer programming gig which paid us 200 bucks each. While we were imagining all the things we could blow our new found cash on, his dad pounced on his money and locked it up in a five year CD paying a rate in the teens. 200 bucks was a boatload of money and five...

If you'd like to test drive linux, you can put the live CD versions on a USB drive via YUMI. Booting to the USB drive will run YUMI and you can test drive whatever versions of linux you've put on the drive. I like Ubuntu Mate and Mint, but lately I've found elementary OS (Mac like) and Zorin OS (Win...

The only problem with these OSO/OCO orders is that you can lose track of them over time especially if you have a many of them cooking. Say your buy stop hits @ 12, then wanders between 12 and 14 for months or years. One day, you say "I don't want to hang on to this stock anymore, time to sell", so y...

Our temp would run a bit high and spike in traffic - turned out it was 200k of bugs smashed into the condenser and radiator fins. I did hose it off from time to time, but never really looked closely. It can be tough to sort out the best way to go. I've had good and bad service from dealers, and generally good service from indies. So what's up with your engine? Head gasket was redesigned for 2005 model year forester. Non-OEM valve cover gaskets and spark plug tube seals cost $25 @ Autozone, AAP, etc. Hope you've got something repairable for cheap. It's a pretty good car overall.

100,000 miles or 100 months is a rough guideline - the latter accounts for rubber degrading with time depending on your weather. Price sounds about right - I've had much cheaper @ 100k, but ALL they did was the timing belt, probably to compete on price and dealer figuring that I'd sell it or trade i...

What I was really struck by in real time was how long the market could be irrational and thus slowly suck in people who were normally more conservative. Despite the froth in housing, Toll Brothers (TOL) started sliding in 2005. The yield curve was inverted for what seemed like an eternity. So by 200...

One possibility is to sell enough current shares to take your original investment off the table, probably six or seven shares. Then you can just let your profit ride knowing you can't lose no matter what the winds of fate do to IBM.
