I suspect that it may have something to do with the increased volatility of insurance plans. Who knows whether the patient will have the same plan next year, or if the doctor will decide to remain in-network next year? FWIW - I don't think its a limitation of their scheduling software. I had the same problem. You can buy new hinges where they are angled instead of straight. If you look at your current hinge it has horizontal lines where the two hinges meet.
