If there is an IRS field office nearby, it might be easier to see an agent.

Last time the agent said he would drop the case after I showed him the mistake on their letter.

Re: If my employer matches my 401(k) contributions all the way up to the IRS maximum, should I fill it up before taxable

Second this. If leaving the current employer, I would contribute to the limit before departure. If the next employer matches more, I can still contribute and undo the first one. Also, 50% match is a lot. Are you planning to leave your employment this year? If so, I would be inclined to front load th...

Re: Backdoor Roth: How Long To Wait For Conversion?

I tried to do the conversion as soon as I can. I like Fidelity because I can do the conversion online myself. I hate to have 8 cents in my tIRA for a year (I had to call for the conversion with Merrill Edge). I was not worried about it. I am not the only one who did this. Waiting 1 or 30 or 365 days...

Yes. I realized that my route 2 is stupid. Thank you! But why I have a wash when buy it back? I remember the wash sale is only triggerred when a loss is realized. Seems unnecessary just to have the dividend paid to the IRA. Secondly when you go back to repurchase ex division, the stock will be tradi...

Are these wash sale?

I wanted to make sure that the following are not wash sale. 1. I sell a stock with capital gain before ex-dividend date, and buy it back on ex-dividend date to avoid receiving the dividend. 2. I sell a stock with capital gain before ex-dividend date and buy the same the same time in tax-advantaged a...
