My mother went to a dentist 15 years ago he told her she need 3k of work done. Went to another dentist did $300 of work. She has been working them fine ever since. So you know what I think.

I think the best way to quit is to reduce it slowly then quit. Start with one less piece a day. That is how I did it.

My computer has around the same specs as your's and I love it. I am guessing it will last you several more years. If you can update to windows 10 it will last until 2025. You total income has to be under around 50k for that to happen. I thought it was around $76k in taxable income (and that's not the same as total income) - unless you are talking a single taxpayer. I would quit that 9k job. I had the same problem but not as bad. I sold before the end of march that way I only had CG for the year. It might take you a few years of doing that.

I found out that it helps if you sell an active fund early in the year before it has a chance to pay dividends and capital gains. That is what I did one year my gain was less than the fund's dividends and capital gains would have been.

Thanks everybody. I will get very close in 2019. If all come to all it might make sense for me to buy a small amount of junk bonds for the added income. Not bogleish I know but it might be worth it for ACA.
