Re: Your Original Medicare OR Advantage Experience: Nightmare or Sublime?

I have Aetna MA PPO plan. My wife has Excellus BC/BS PPO. Both plans are in upstate NY. Both plans have a $0/month fee. I’ve had a Medicare Advantage plan for 9 years. My wife for 5 years. Coverage has been great. Savings over traditional Medicare has been has benefited both of us.

Re: Inexpensive Smart Phone + Plan

I’ve been very happy with Visible, which is a subsidiary of Verizon and uses their network. They charge $30 a month inclusive of all fees and taxes. You can transfer your phone number to their service, including your landline number, which would be important especially for an elderly person. The $30 monthly fee must be billed directly to a credit card or bank account as there is no paper billing nor are there physical stores. Service is reliable everywhere urban or rural.

Re: Modest stereo system

I bought a 2 channel Insignia receiver from best buy on sale for $70. Had a pair of Polk speakers that I bought years ago hooked up to it. Receiver has Bluetooth and I interface that with my Amazon Echo Dot. I say “Alexa play my Pandora Led Zeppelin station”. Simple, very cheap, sounds great for maybe $200.

Airpods have been perfect for me. Have never fallen out while running. They sound great and no issues with syncing.

Re: Pro and cons of the Prime offer by Amazon.......

I’m finding Walmart.com prices beating Amazon. Shipping is just as fast and free. No membership. Returns easier if you take back to Walmart. I think this is starting to be reflected in the current acceleration in WMT stock price.

Re: Do you have any retiree healthcare benefit from your employer?

No. Worked at not-for-profit healthcare system for 39 years. Sadly they dropped defined benefit pension plan and retiree health plan about 10 years ago.

Re: Best AWD Sedan/Coupe?

Bought a 2016 Subaru Legacy 3 months ago. Have around 3,000 miles on it and have not had to add any additional oil.
So far I would highly recommend this vehicle. Consumer Reports rate Subaru owners highest in customer satisfaction and would likely purchase a Subaru again. Paid around $25K for the Legacy 2.5i Premium with Eyesight and remote start.
