I might hold on to $25-$50k, 10bps is $25-$50 a year. Not going through the hassle of moving accounts and taking on another 1099 for $25 a year. Heck probably wouldn't even do it for $500...maybe at a $1000.
Exactly my thoughts. If you have $100k in savings, a 1% increase in rate is only $1,000 a year. I'm not going through the hassle for an extra couple hundred dollars a year.

Re: Best HYSA

After attempting to open a Vio account 5 times, each time getting a failure message, I have given up. It must be the most difficult account to open in online banking history. Their security questions are insane. "What is the closest street to [YOUR ADDRESS]?". 5 street names I have never heard of in my life, and required me to do a Google Map search around my address to try to see if any matched. Then googling each street name to see multiple examples of same street names in neighboring states, or counties I do not even live in. Their loss. The extra $500 per year that I would gain over my current HYSA is not worth it to deal with the headache of Vio's account set up procedures.

Taxable Account Withdrawals in Retirement (Monthly with SpecID)

Does it make sense to withdraw funds from taxable account on a monthly basis if you have the cost basis set to specific ID (SpecID)? It seems it would be easier to manage if you withdraw once per year (at the beginning of the year), select the tax lots you want to sell, then sell it once and transfer the funds to a HYSA for your spending needs for the upcoming year. If you do monthly withdrawals, you would need to select the tax lots each month. Also, I would think it wouldn't be possible to have Vanguard do auto-withdrawals each month if you have your cost basis set to SpecID, is that correct? Wouldn't you have to tell them what tax lots to sell each month?

It goes against the usual Civic/Camry Bogleheads-approved car recommendations, but I'd say go for it! If you really think you'll get into offroading there's not a better choice out there, except either an older Rubicon so you don't feel as bad about the inevitable body damage, or a side-by-side if trailering a rig to the trails is an option for you. MPG is bad on a Jeep, but that's not why you're buying it. Big tires, good ground clearance, good visibility, and no silly aerodynamic chin spoilers to get torn off all come at a cost. Drive one of your other vehicles on road trips or when your Jeep is getting some trail damage fixed. Stickshift is a lot of fun and provides a more engaging driving experience, but the reality is that it can be t...

Next million ($2M net worth) was just breached in Feb 2021 (so it took ~3.7 years to reach next million).
Consistent saving (40%+ per year), bull market gains, and home value appreciation helped accelerate the new worth growth.

Didn't sell a biotech stock after FDA approval. Had a 7,000% gain and held it trying to get more gains (got greedy). Eventually kept holding as the price went down, hoping for a rebound. Ended up selling everything for an almost 100% loss (like 99.9% loss). Total loss was something like $40k, so not earth shattering. But lesson learned.

Uber lets you split the fare with another rider. Lyft does not.
You may be able to get some additional discounts with Lyft if you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve card.
I've noticed Lyft is a bit cheaper than Uber for the same exact trip (open both apps, enter your destination, then compare prices).

For me, it's not just about how fast the car can go. Mine has a speedometer that tops out at 200 MPH. I clearly will not go that fast on an open public road. A bigger part of the thrill is when I step into my car in the morning, turn the ignition on and hear that 6.2 liter naturally aspirated V8 explode and rumble as I thunder down the road. I buy VTSAX twice per month, when my paycheck hits my checking account. Then I check my rebalancing bands to see if I need to move from stocks -> bonds or vice versa, and rebalance in my 401k (that's where I keep all my bond holdings and my international stock holdings). Next purchase will be ~12/31 when my next paycheck hits. Does this qualify as "dry powder"?

I apologize if this topic has been covered already (I did a search and did not find anything). I can't seem to find a definitive source to answer this question. If I am sued, are my 401K and Roth IRA accounts protected from liability? I live in Virginia. This question popped up in my head as I was reading through the umbrella policy threads on BH (so many of them!).
