The plan says they accept IRA rollovers if the funds come from a "plan distribution under 401a IRS rule" will the after-tax contribution gains fall under that?

AMEX question:

I was chatting with and AMEX rep, he mentioned that Cash EveryDay (cash back) and Amex EveryDay (MR points) are in the same "family" so I cannot get an intro bonus for the Amex EveryDay (MR points) since I had the Cash version. Does someone have any experience with this?

If you have previously sold this fund with average cost, all lots you had at that time were irrevocably averaged. (You could still switch to specific ID for future transactions.) If you have your own records for cost and have not yet sold anything, you should be able to use specific ID as indicated...

I was there last may, not in a cruise like you seem to be. But I did not have any issues using multiple bank ATMs on the main town in the islands, I also used credit cards for most large expenses at hotels, restaurants, tour operators without any issues.

After 2 years I'll have to take our the contributions plus any gains if I want to do a mega backdoor Roth IRA. And no, the plan doesn't allow to allocate after-tax to bonds only.

I'm trying to understand the benefits of excess (beyond $19k/yr) AFTER-TAX contributions into a 401K if you cannot do a mega backdoor Roth IRA. If I already paid taxes on those contributions and the gains (I assume) will be taxed on withdrawal, then what is the benefit, what am I missing?

I've been looking at the Roth 401K rollover rules, are the only options changing employer or retirement? Or is there a way to move from Roth 401K to Roth IRA. Does that even make sense or can I still withdraw 'contributions' from the Roth 401K at any time (assuming the 5 year rule is checked).

The deal was approved as of today but the company will remain independent until Bayer divests everything to BASF. So it may take a little longer.
