alternative i didn't see mentioned: Costco refills ink cartridges (both color and B&W) for very cheap. My HP inkjet cartridges run $20-30 new. the refill is ~$7-8. just drop it off at the photo center, and go shopping. then come back 15-20 mins later and they are all filled up and ready to go.
