Check out Ziera shoes. I've been buying their Mary Jane style shoes for work for years for custom, 3/4 length orthotic.

Re: House Flooded - Process with Insurance and Experience?

Several years ago I had an $80k+ insurance claim with USAA for a burst pipe in the house. I did not feel that it was an adversarial process or that USAA was trying to aggressively cut costs. When I called to open the claim the customer rep also told me to call a local restoration company. Unfortunat...

Logging on to voice my happiness with Banktivity for Mac. The budgeting function is a bit clunky but it is perfect for downloading transactions from a variety of accounts, categorizing expenses and tracking investments. The customer service function is pretty good as well.

Re: Retirement Account Stolen by Identity theft

How does the recipient of a notarized document verify that it wasn't a fake notary? Is there a registery to verify notaries? Each state has a department, usually the Treasury, that maintains a registry of all notaries and can provide a document to confirm that the notary's commission was valid and ...

Re: Asked to pay now for settled Health insurance claims from past year

It looks like OP already has a plan of action and I just wanted to chime in with my own experiences. Earlier this year I had a dispute with my BCBS plan when they terminated coverage for me and my baby for non-payment. I spent 7 months patiently calling the insurance company and provided evidence fr...

Good explanation. Another option, rather than paying for a Yubikey and LastPass premium, would be to use another two factor option such as google authenticator (one time pin generating app on your smartphone) with the free LastPass. My free LastPass account does not allow for a two factor option, e...

Re: How far off are Zillow's estimates?

My house just sold for 57% more than the Zillow estimate (pre-listing). As soon as the listing hit the airwaves, Zillow automatically updated its estimate for 7% under the list price. I guess they applied some sort of sale price to listing price ratio. I'm interested in seeing what the estimate is w...

It seems like you're trying to rationalize your preferred outcome while still in an emotional fog. It appears that the Bogleheads and your own lawyer disagree with your plan. I hope you take these contrasting opinions into account. Best of luck to you!

Due to a special circumstance this year I received a sizable tax credit. That's why the usual suspects (i.e. HSA, 401k contributions) won't yield any more tax savings in 2015.

Not for a sole member LLC. All contributions get reported on the 1040 regardless of whether they're employee or employer. At least, that was what I was told. :happy

For 2015, I already contributed the maximum to my solo 401k for the employee portion. I also have the cash available to make another large contribution for the employer portion. However, making the employer contribution for 2015 will not result in any additional tax savings. My thinking is that I wo...

I’ve been reading this site for well over a year now and recently transferred my investments to Vanguard.
