Re: [2018 tax return - How does it compare to previous years?]
2017 - received $3300 refund from the feds
2018 - I own $2200 to the fed
I also have to now pay the fed $1400 each quarter for future 2019 taxes. I live in Cali and not feeling good at the moment. I think the middle class in Cali got screwed.

Should I continue to contribute to my Traditional IRA
Greetings, Just turned 59. I max out on my 401k every year, don't quality for a Roth, can't backdoor a roth due to a rollover. I have a traditional (non-deductible) IRA. I'm wondering should I contribute for 2014 and 2015. I have the cash. I usually also buy ibonds. Is there an advantage for me with...

Greetings, I have an account at brokerage #1 which contains my IRA rollover, traditional IRA (nondeductible) and a Roth IRA (which I opened during a year that I was eligible). I have a 2006 Subaru Forrester XT with 100k+ on it. My next car will be the same car with a new engine..I'm hoping to get 200k+ and for 3-4k you can swap in a new engine and off you go..way cheaper than a new car and this car works for me.

i'm new to the backdoor roth, but my research suggests that you are mostly right. you *can* convert just one (or a part) of your IRAs, but you will be struck by the pro-rata rule. given that 250k chunk in your "rollover IRA", i think pro rata takes a roth conversion off the table for you. http://ww...
