Re: Refund for downgraded seats on flight rebook (post-cruise)

Last fall, my wife and I were booked on a Viking cruise of the Mediterranean, flights booked through the cruise line by way of our TA. We were booked Delta Premium Economy from home to Atlanta to Amsterdam to Venice. The day before departure, KLM cancelled our flight from Amsterdam to Venice, and left us hanging (they did not rebook). We called our travel agent, who sat down immediately with us, Delta, and Viking, and got us a replacement booking, home to Atlanta to DeGaulle to Venice. Unfortunately, the long-haul from Atlanta to DeGaulle was in economy. After the cruise, we contacted Viking, and explained the situation. They asked us for copies of the boarding passes from the replacement flights showing that we had been bumped to economy, ...

Re: SSA possible reporting error?

As billaster noted, start with IRS and go from there. If the IRS numbers are right, send SSA a letter reporting the issue, with a copy of the W2's in question. I had to do this for my wife's Social Security account. A few years ago we were looking at her work record on the SS site in preparation for her retirement, and noticed that it showed no SS earnings for the years when she worked at a particular insurance adjuster's business (nobody you ever heard of). The W2s were correct, so it seemed the employer had withheld the correct amounts from her check, but either he had not reported it to SSA or SSA mishandled the reported numbers. Shortly after we sent them the letter and the W2s as proof, they corrected the error promptly to show her mis...

Re: Medicare: 64 Year Old Eyeing 2025 Medicare

I've been on Medicare for over three years now. My decision process began with the free download Medicare & You that is published each year by Medicare.gov. From there I began to evaluate what was suitable for my particular situation. It's very tempting to look at all these Medicare Advantage ads on TV and online and be drawn in by the claimed "zero premium". However, you have to look at what you're getting for your premium. My wife and I travel quite a bit. Medicare and a Medigap supplement should work anywhere in the US where the doctor accepts Medicare, and you don't have to get prior approval. Medicare Advantage plans typically focus on your own home area, and from what I've read it's a nightmare to get coverage approved i...

SmileyFace wrote: Thu Feb 22, 2024 2:39 pm From what I read ALL Consumer Cellular customers where moved to AT&T as of January 2024.
I don't believe this is correct. My wife and I are on Consumer Cellular, my phone is on the AT&T backbone and hers is on T-Mobile. When AT&T dropped out on Thursday, my phone lost service and went to "SOS", hers still worked (had three bars of signal).

I also don't think that moving a customer from T-Mobile to AT&T is something that they can do on the back end; from my experience with them and with dealing with both backbones, I think that a physical SIM swap is necessary to change the underlying provider.
