Re: Should I sell or hold [house]?

Normally, the consensus on this board is to sell and simply. That is still a preferred path.

I do see your logic in keeping a known home in a known area that you might want to move back. I am in a similar situation with a prior home.

One thing for sure is rent seems too low for a $500k property.

Re: 75 year old widow (my mom) retirement portfolio suggestions, RMD's - 2.35M assets

My suggestion would be to keep it simple, super simple. Roll everything that is not in taxable account into Vanguard, into one fund. Either a Wellesley Income fund (35:65) or Target Retirement Income (30:70). That would be Age-10 to Age-5 in bonds, rest into equities. +1 on this. Simple. Understand...

Focus on those compound lifting exercises: 1) Squat 2) Deadlift 3) Bench press 4) Shoulder press 5) Lunges 6) Barbell row Then combine with those exercises in between: 7) Triceps pull-down 8) Biceps curl 9) Flys using cable and free weights 10) Box jump 11) Pull-ups 12) Push-ups 13) Sit-ups 14) Str...

Not to hijack, but I got a mailer for a $500 bonus for opening a savings account with Wells Fargo in branch with at least $20k. I cannot find a mention of this promotion being mentioned anywhere on the entire internet...it's always for checking only. Thing nice about savings is no direct deposit re...

Re: Marcus Bank 1% Bonus for New Funds up to $50k ($500 bonus)

Seemed like worthwhile enough deal. I opened account(super easy and no hardpull) and funded, seems interest starts immediately. No monthly deposit requirements or debit card transactions required. Just move money in and keep it there at least 90 days. The normal interest is 2.15 currently so that is...

Sorry this happened. Amazing what happens in broad daylight nowadays

Your action list is more than sufficient and most importantly the phone is wiped.

Basically the thief is going to sell it for parts.

Re: HCOL vs LCOL Dilemma

Before this thread gets locked. I would not move from SoCal to Dallas and going to $400k to $120ish income. The hit in income and plusses(weather/scenery) of Socal is made up for the decrease in costs. As someone else mentioned, Dallas is highend of MCOL not LCOL. This is coming from a life-long Tex...

75% cut, wow. The company does seem in downward spiral. The only upside would be if he had a ton of stock and the company turned itself around. I would prepare to be part of next round of layoffs or the company folding. I would not bother talking to HR and new manager is probably too occupied to dea...

I do what you describe quite a bit for work. It works fine. A true dual monitor would be a bit better as with one monitor, an app window overlaps the video window window inadvertently. I bought a new monitor recently. My old monitor was a ten-year-old 1680x1050 resolution one that I used in portrait mode 99% of the time. The LG 5k connected to the Mac will have a native resolution of 5120x2880. Apple OS by default pixel doubles to to effectively pr...

As others have pointed out, you have most of the negotiating power. Current deal seems to close to new lease deal from MB. The private seller should be doing a bit more incentives. If seller did not ask for $500, covered any transfer fee and transferred the $600 maintenance plan to you then I think ...

Windows 7 was a great interface. I actually think XP is the best overall but Windows 7 updates made sense. Windows 8.1 interface was too drastic.
