Check with the firm that is taking care of your 401k. I used to borrow money from my 401k account and quit the job, I was able to readjust and instead of taking money from my paycheck, the firm takes money from my checking account. Early withdrawal issue never was a problem.

I used to have problem with Microsoft, Western Digital and Linksys routers. They worked for a few months and became intermittent. It worked a minute before and suddenly stopped at a minute later. I always follow the car owner manual and replace the timing belt. I drive a lot so I follow the mileage and ignore the year part. My reason are first it is interference and a broken timing belt will become a disaster; second the timing belt is the main muscle to pull everything else so it will break...

For me, if the payout is less than ten times premium, then I will consider to drop the coverage (For example, if the payout is $3000 and I am paying more than $300 a year for insurance coverage).

I change engine oil myself simply because I want to make sure that regular oil not mistakenly filled for synthetic oil. I used synthetic oil on my car from day 1.

If you always go together then keeping one car is a good idea. Cars are design for you to drive them daily, if you leave them alone you still have to remember to start them often to be lubricated. Cutting cost on insurance and DMV renewals too.

Sometimes, it is not possible to get access to ceiling, crawlspace and can do something with the walls. You have to run wires across the room.

Thanks for all of the responses. I will visit YouTube to review how difficult it would be to replace the radiator myself. If not too time consuming, I can fix this myself and buy a radiator off of RockAuto or a similar site. Then will re-evaluate whether to keep the jeep or buy something different....

At your age, I would prefer to have $400k - $500k (5 times your salary) in retirement fund than a car. I think if you do not have cash to buy it, then you cannot afford it.

We own a condo unit but when writing the address, the post office only recognizes it as apartment. So at the end of the street address, we put APT# for apartment. If we put Unit#, the post office does not have on its database.

Only you can change you. I am far away from retirement and my asset allocation is 80/20 (equity/bond). Nisiprius is right. I used to be like you (100% in equity), but then decided to add 1% to bond and from there increased it easily to 20%.

Our peak month was 844 kWh. Actually, every month, we received email from electric company saying that I use more energy than our neighbors. We set indoor temperature to 76 for summer and 73 for winter times. All is electric, we do not have gas option.

#4 sounds good. Living in basement is not healthy. You mentioned about the baby sitting part, that benefits a lot since you guys can go out or take vacation trip any time you want knowing your kid is being taken good care for free.

You need $42,000 (a year) after tax this year money for your normal expense plus health insurance. $46,500 (from future pension) is not enough to cover it fully so you will need to save more outside of TSP. I think it is doable.
