You can buy tax software on sale for $15 that will import this data. It's really not a big deal. Yes am aware of that as I've done it. We have weekly automatic contributions into Vanguard. Keeps us from accumulating too much cash! I could do this too, but, after 10-20 years....that would be a lot of tax lots. I had a hard drive at home that I intentionally tried to destroy by pounding on it with a hammer. It showed some cosmetic damage fairly quickly, but I eventually had to take it to work and run it through an industrial shredder to actually damage it to the point where the data couldn’t be retrieved....
