Good point for the addtional principal payment. The only reason I would recast is for the flexibility it provides. Would likely still pay the higher payment to quickly quash the loan, but I like the ability to lower the payment if an emergency comes up.

Yes, it is a Medicaid nursing home situation. We are working with an elder law attorney in Pennsylvania, which is where the parent in law resides. The attorney recommend we keep the account separate and liquid for the five years. I don't feel like we should consider this part of our asset allocation...
