And don't forget that there is still an option to lease (a presumably new) EV whereby the dealer can fold the rebate into the lease payments. I am not sure how the monthly cash flow would work out.

If you have had a lot of rain lately, the wood might be swollen; we have an old house and this happens occasionally. A few days of warm weather dries it (I would be concerned with the jack you posted splitting the top horizontal frame member from the side members.)

Thinking outside the box...maybe they will take the money from you, since HIPPA may allow them to do THAT, and you can then settle with your relative somehow. Easier perhaps than dealing with the agencies/companies. (HIPPA can be a pain)

Re: Vanguard Cash Plus Account
Thanks NYC I'll dip my foot in and see where it takes me. I am confused because VG first states the the account includes sweeps to banks: "The Vanguard Cash Plus Account is a cash management account that features a bank sweep insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Company (FDIC) and offers a competitive yield on your short-term savings. You can use the bank sweep as a low-risk place to keep cash for your immediate needs as well as for emergencies. You also have the option to purchase any of the 5 Vanguard money market funds available in your Cash Plus Account." https://investor.vanguard.com/accounts-plans/vanguard-cash-plus-account Then it provides a list of the banks. Re: Vanguard Cash Plus Account
I don't see PNC bank listed among the VG's "program banks". My understanding is that the listed banks are used to sweep funds into/out the CP account,(but you can opt out of one or more of those (presumably to ensure you fall under the FDIC limit if you already have funds in the stricken bank). And I assume that VG selects the particular bank ( banks?) to aggregate your funds into, yes?
Are you saying that you can select any other bank (e.g., PNC) for the sweep? Or are you simply saying that VG lets you link to a bank you already have a relationship with to push/pull funds?

Thanks. I intend to look at all th options next month. CVS has been a disaster so I will likely switch pharmacies. In what way have they been a disaster? Understaffed. Getting refills on simple Rx has taken 7-10 days with no supply issues. Quality assurance: more than one Rx was not the correct drug (we always verify that the contents of a Rx are correct). Closing pharmacy randomly due to pharma staff failing to show for work. Closed drive-thru permanently. [/quote] The brick & mortar CVS pharmacies here have really gone downhill as well. Also understaffed with very long lines at each of the three in our area. What REALLY irritates me is that they add to the delay by taking people who use their CVS apps (which I hate and do not use) ah...

Thanks again, Kevin and others, for this continued TIPS education. I have a couple of embarrassingly basic questions as i begin to purchase individual TIPS.
First, how do you choose the rungs to fill first within your chosen range? Do you start with the earliest, the latest, those with the best yield, those with the lowest inflation factors, etc? And why?
Second, do you consider yields to be your primary parameter, or low inflation factors?
Thanks for the hand-holding.

Re: Can anyone recommend some good sheets that stay cool in warmer temperatures?
I've recently read that sheets made from bamboo are very good for sleeping in warm temperatures. FYI to consumers -- "Bamboo" on textile labels is 99% of the time just viscose rayon using bamboo as the source of cellulose. Being the output of the viscose rayon process is what makes it soft, not any association with bamboo. These are not the coarse structural bast fibers in the bamboo stalks, but fine fibers of regenerated cellulose following chemical dissolution. People have a fundamental misunderstanding about this, and the marketers know it and abuse it. Viscose rayon uses neurotoxic carbon disulfide in the process and generates high volumes of contaminated wastewater. It is typically manufactured in low-cost developing countri...

Too Late For TBill Auction
I just logged into VG to submit a bid for the 6/1 T-Bill auction, and found a notice that the deadline was yesterday afternoon.
A VG rep told me a few moments ago that it was a last minute decision based on the state of the debt limit situation, resultant uncertainty and risk as to what will be paid out, when it would be received, and whether the auction would go forward as scheduled, as well as the the additional operational complications arising from the holiday weekend.
I assume I was not the only one unaware.

It sounds like you are talking about market pharmacies that are part of either GoodRX or Singlecare networks. If that is the case, their prices can indeed be cheaper than your insurance company's formulary price. I don't understand the intricacies of pharma pricing, but if that is the case, the market pharmacy may indeed have done you a favor.

Re: Trading Treasuries (nominal and TIPS)
I have been agonizing over whether to convert Vanguard Short Term TIPS fund into a TIPS ladder. The downside of the fund, from what I have learned following this invaluable thread, is that the TIPS in a ladder have maturity dates on which you know you are guaranteed the adjusted par value (please correct me if I am wrong about this conclusion).
The Fund seems to have about 20% of its TIPS in each of the 0-1 yr, 1-2 yr, 2-3 yr, 3-4 yr and 4-5 year maturity brackets, but I cannot find any information about how many are held to maturity, assuming this is relevant information. Is that information buried in the annual report somewhere or otherwise known? Does it matter?
Thank you for tye help.

For example, if a husband and wife each have a TIRA brokerage account at VG and a Roth brokerage account at VG, and then also have a joint account brokerage account at VG, are each of those 5 accounts separately covered to a $500,000 cap (ignoring "excess coverage" issues)?

I have recently encountered the seemingly new Expand All Accounts "feature" on VG's website and am looking for a work-around if it exists. You used to be able to simply click "My Accounts" > "Balances And Holdings" to get a listing of all the funds held in each of the accounts, with the respective daily data for each fund (hereinafter, the "itemized page"). Now it seems that I have to first click the foregoing two links PLUS then click "Expand All Accounts" to get the Itemized Page. In addition, I have to repeat that new step each time I drill down into one of the funds and then click the browser's left arrow to go back one page for the Itemized Page. OP, I've been driving only EVs for over 20 years and never ran out of charge. But here is what I would do if I were you, if you haven't done so yet: 1.Go to plugshare.com and check out the charger locations for the areas you foresee traveling to and within. (Filter the map to show you only CSS and J1772 chargers; the first are the fast "DC chargers"...not Tesla superchargers...and the J1772 is the same "normal" 220v charger you would likely install in your home if you wanted to charge more quickly than 110v will allow.) This will give you some level of comfort. FWIW, I have always had a 220v charger so I can charge overnight when needed. Any EV you buy/lease is likely compatible with both, but check with the salesman to ...
