Re: How do you reverse a lifetime of frugality and learn to spend some money?

I was extremely frugal throughout my working years and saved enough money to retire at age 49. I'm now 56 and I have to admit I still worry about spending money on anything but the bare necessities . I have zero debt and my home is paid for. You have been retired for seven years. What have you been...

Apple also sells refurbished phones directly; new screen and battery included. They are discounted 15% from new phone prices and come with full warranty. You could also add Apple Care. The phones ship to nearby Apple store or your home. You could get them activated for any network. More savings if y...

Re: SUV thread (with a twist)

I was in the market for a new sedan/SUV so considered Subaru seriously. Drove Outback/Legacy/Forester. All OK but with substantial compromises in terms of ride quality, refinements, gadgets, etc. I also did not find the safety rating exceptionaI. Therefore, I made a decision not to buy this brand. I...

Re: Amazon, eBay, Costco, vs. Walmart?

Costco for the best prices on bulk items; need to be a disciplined shopper and not fill-up the big cart with items I might want but don't need. Walmart for the brand name cosmetics, toiletries and OTC drugs. Both places are slim on customer services; I time visits to when the in-store traffic is lig...

Don't ask for a match, just ask for a raise and not mention your job offer. Usually when management hears you have been looking and then asked to match your pay, you will be the next to go. Management may see it as a sign of your lack of loyalty. If they ever need to cut someone, you will be the ea...

This turned out to be the single most stupid purchase decision I have ever made. Big deal. So you made a dumb decision, take the loss and relish the very smart decisions you have made in your life. Learn from it and move on. I am recently coming off of such a decision myself. I bought a used X5 and...

Sears appliances from Amazon

Sears to sell Kenmore appliances on Amazon. In my experience, there is a decline in quality of this brand and it is no longer a good value for money. The new deal would not make me buy Kenmore. Any one persuaded to buy Kenmore appliance due to the Amazon connection?

The most recent model you can afford. Many innovative safety technologies, which were only seen in luxury models, are now available even in entry-level cars. They allow you to avoid accidents and to survive the ones you can't avoid. Please value your life and limbs over your net worth.

Need help-bought too much car

Please advise how I can salvage MY situation. I recently spent 44 K on a new car. I can pay it off in three years, but I have serious remorse on my profligacy. How can I get out of this loan without loosing substantial amounts to depreciation and 3.5 K on sales tax. Thanks.
