I changed mine for the first time at 35,000 miles and it looked like the one in the picture above. Now I change it more often. I buy the filter from O'Reilly for $10.50 and it takes me about 5 minutes to put it in.

My preferred method for closing a CC is to wait for a change in terms and then calling the 800 number to opt out. If you do this, the CC can never be resurrected -- its like driving a stake through a vampire.

We had this type of rate many years ago when we lived in California. We ran the dishwasher and clothes dryer during off peak hours. We has a gas water heater, so that wasn't an issue. Also we lived on the coast where homes didn't need air conditioning, so we made out like bandits. Thanks PG&E.

I have always directed the bulk of my charitable contributions to either Catholic Family Services or Episcopal Family Services, and I'm not a member of either religion. The names vary in different communities -- might be Community Services or Social Services.

If you are using a desktop computer to read the articles, I suggest a second monitor so that you can read and take notes without switching programs. A large high res monitor will let you do the same thing.

I have a spreadsheet with several tabs. One thing I do is forecast in real (not adjusted for inflation) dollars. It makes the forecast numbers more down to earth. So everything is in nominal dollars up to the current year and in inflation unadjusted numbers after that.
