For a HSA, it only matters that your withdrawals for a year are less than or equal to your qualified expenses. You can make this happen without putting money back in to the HSA. If you get audited, the IRS would only look at your total qualified expenses and your total withdrawals.

I changed mine for the first time at 35,000 miles and it looked like the one in the picture above. Now I change it more often. I buy the filter from O'Reilly for $10.50 and it takes me about 5 minutes to put it in.

My preferred method for closing a CC is to wait for a change in terms and then calling the 800 number to opt out. If you do this, the CC can never be resurrected -- its like driving a stake through a vampire.

We had this type of rate many years ago when we lived in California. We ran the dishwasher and clothes dryer during off peak hours. We has a gas water heater, so that wasn't an issue. Also we lived on the coast where homes didn't need air conditioning, so we made out like bandits. Thanks PG&E.

I have a spreadsheet with several tabs. One thing I do is forecast in real (not adjusted for inflation) dollars. It makes the forecast numbers more down to earth. So everything is in nominal dollars up to the current year and in inflation unadjusted numbers after that.
