Re: Do Bonds have a place if basic expenses are covered by income streams?

I have reached a similar conclusion that once your annual expenses are met by income streams, there is less of a role of fixed income. Recently found an article I like that relates to this sentiment: https://blog.alphaarchitect.com/2016/06/30/questioning-everything-you-knew-about-asset-allocation/#g...

Re: Replacing run-flat tires on BMW

Just couple days ago I replaced my original runflats for my 2008 BMW 335xi with Bridgestone Driveguard runflats.

No complaints.

Re: Is there an investment with a FIXED rate of 3.5% or higher?

EE bonds have an implied interest rate of 3.5% if held to maturity to 20 years.

But you're limited to $10k per year.

Re: $50M+ - Need a sounding board/advice

With that amount of money, makes no sense to pay a percentage. Use a fee-only advisor. Cardiff Park or Evanson have good reputations. That's what I would do if I were in your shoes. Sure you can do it yourself the boglehead way, it's not easy. But you can pay a small fee each year to have an expert ...

Re: Damodaran on AAPL: CNBC interview (1-27-16)

I think AAPL will be fine. 2 issues I see with investor sentiment: 1. Comparisons of growth need to be made to previous S cycle upgrades (2 years prior), not prior fiscal year. Of course more people will not be as excited to buy an S phone rather than a new form factor. Year over year growth becomes...

Re: Anyone shifting their AA?

Back during the mini stock crash during Aug 2015, I went from a 70/30 allocation to 75/25.

Thought I was smart for a while, now I kind of wish I didn't make that move.

Re: "Mad Money"....do you play?

I suppose I've been playing with fire the last couple years. I've had about 40-70% of my net worth in the stock market last couple years, doing lots of short term investments. My strategy involves lots of covered calls and covered puts with mostly only blue chip stocks. I'm a huge Apple fan, and App...
