Re: Need advice on my 401K with the new company

Yes, I would say switching to the State Street S&P 500 Index Securities Lending Series Fund is a good move since it has the lowest fee ratio. If you haven't already, I suggest asking your custodian about the possibility of adding low-fee index fees such as Vanguard or Fidelity or something. I t...

Re: Newbie investor. question regarding Vanguard index funds / IRA

Because of the loss of compounding income over the decades (the fixed index annuity has fees of perhaps 1% to 2% per year, well hidden in the prospectus), you will have more money at age 60 if you take it out now, rather than leaving it with them and pay the fees every year. By the way, the insuran...

Re: Newbie investor. question regarding Vanguard index funds / IRA

Ask them exactly how much you get back if you cash in the FIA today. My guess is 4500, but anything more is gravy. Bonus could be smoke and mirrors (an illusion). Fortunately they haven't gotten that much from you so far. It would be worse if you realized it was bad 10 years from now. We all make m...

Re: Newbie investor. question regarding Vanguard index funds / IRA

Just wanted to add that the two funds you mentioned buying at Vanguard are Admiral funds (10k minimum) but the identical non-Admiral index funds also come with a $3k minimum and a slightly higher ER. Then when it has accumulated 10k it converts automatically to the Admiral version. So you could put...
