Buying and Selling in december

I'm a little confused about fred flintstones proposal. I thought to get a capital gain of 15% one had to have a qualified transaction and that requires a holding period. 60 days? Am I wrong?
Thanks

Most stable equity during 09 crash?

Has anyone come up with a chart of which equities (and/or segments) suffered the least decline during the 08 crash? Curious.

Should one consider inheritance?

If a boglehead structures a strategy to retire on, wouldn't it be prudent to include any potential already determined inheritance? Furthermore, if the inheritor (the parent) is willing to plan the best program to maximize the estate for the inheritee (the child), wouldn't it make sense for the bogle...

Fidelity Personal Retirement Annuity

Would appreciate an opinion of Fidelity's Personal Retirement Annuity program. Within the plan I own 1. FNAEC (VIP High Inc.) 70%, 2.FNBTC (Inv grade bond) 12%, 3. FNANC (Strategic Income)10%, and FNBIC (Emerging mkt debt) 8%. Is this plan of referred taxes (but all ordinary income) practical? Thanks
