Simple work around...open a Merrill Edge taxable account..it's all the same BofA...transfer it from BofA to Merrill Edge...then transfer from Merrill Edge to whatever bank you want..$0 fee...

Active Duty military can't terminate unless deploying 181 days or more with proof or overseas orders with proof...I had overseas orders...Mercedes Benz and Ford were painless to do.

So assuming some assets are in a non-tax advantaged account...since you have index funds it's reasonable to assume you have decent gains...did he offer to pay your capital gains taxes if you sell them off to pay his fees and his ER?

lived in Naples for 3 1/2 years US Navy, just moved back a couple years ago...drove all over Italy...never an incident.

1. never leave anything in the car...never...not a thing.
2. assume every lane is a 2 lane road.
3. very few car accidents happen there.

I lived there for 3 1/2 years moving back a couple months ago... Crime: Petty theft will occur...just don't be a victim..never happened to me in 3 1/2 years...ie leave nothing in a car ever...and never ever leave your bag out etc. Yes you can do both Amalfi and Pompeii same trip...a good locals alte...

Being in the military I'm more than aware what TSP is...most credit unions like Navy Federal, etc you can do better than 2.5%...

Go to Lightstream unsecured auto loan 2.19%.
Digital Credit Union is 2.24%

2.5% is easy to beat so why do that?

Unless you have bad credit, why would you do this? And TSP charges $50 for the loan....this makes no sense, just take a vehicle loan..what am I missing? Do you not have a job (source of income), basis of repayment, or bad credit and can't get the lowest rates...

If its not a modified endowment contract (MEC) and no loans against it..let it lapse, pay taxes on the gains (from proceeds) and keep rest and move on...pretty simple.

So the best part about NFCU is that for child/parent joint accounts (minor/adult) they report in the SSN of the child...so I have 2 children..I max both out...each child is a joint owner with me on one and due to the $1050 per child interest exemption (Kitty tax stuff) it is essentially tax free.......

Not getting married for tax considerations is kind of silly...everyone getting married is a personal choice, but using taxes as a front makes zero sense as sometimes marring filing separately will solve this issues...just my 2 cents.

Offer them their used car back and unwind the deal...most likely the $1000 isn't worth the cost of a depreciated used car, reconditioning it, paying the fees involved with that etc..as long as you didn't misrepresent facts...

Since you asked for a rate quote, he was doing his due diligence..he can't give you a true rate quote without knowing your credit score and portfolio...if you had a 530 when he quoted you 4% with no points and 0% origination may not be true as that rate is now 3 points...so if you wanted a rate quot...

if your funds are with vanguard now, convert the admiral to ETF (no tax hit), then transfer in kind to Schwab and you keep your ER...then just buy low cost Schwab funds...this is what I did.

I think the issue is they can offer you a lower price (discount) for a new customer as they know most people don't change companies every 6 months, then slowly raise it back up...I have had USAA for 17 years...could I get cheaper somewhere else, maybe, but this product I'm just going to pay the USAA...

One thing to think about is for those folks that like programs like Chase Private Client, etc (high priced concierge programs)..if you do it first of year..just buy an ETF and pay the $20 and no other fees from those programs...that's the cheap way of doing those programs.

If you are Platinum Honors with Bank of America and have Travel Rewards (2.625%), it's free money for bills you have to pay anyway. I do it every month to make a few bucks on the 2.625 - 2.5% spread. Takes two seconds and just pay the bill to the Visa card and redeem the credit as cash back.
