Solo 401k question

Hey guys, Have a quick question. I've already maxed out the employee portion of my solo 401k, but I want to add some more to my employer portion before the new year. If I add some today, will it still be allowed? Monday is new Year, so I don't think the contribution would hit my account until the 2n...

Re: Help Me Cash Out My Bitcoin!

Do you have the wallet ID number? Search through the email of which you signed up on the account with. If you still have that email, it will have your wallet ID. You then can try to guess your password. If that doesn't work, you might be able to email them and get some help. Also, you can have them ...

Let's say from cold storage to the exchange.
Sell on exchange.
And then transfer to bank.

Couple bucks to send it from cold storage to the exchange. 0 fees to sell on the exchange. 0 fees to transfer it to the bank account.

Also JPM and other banks are currently buying BTC for their clients. HOw can they short it? I'm sure that would be illegal. Also they're gonna have all eyes on this for market manipulation.

The REAL effects of scarcity and supply and demand haven't even kicked in yet. This is the one opportunity where people have had the chance to get in before wall street. IPO's aren't available to small investors. Wall Street isn't even here yet. But the herd is coming... ETFs will most likely be ava...

Re: Wash Sale Question

Thanks livesoft. I turned off the automatic dividend reinvestments in the Roth IRA and Taxable account. What about the solo 401k? Does a wash sale pertain to any dividends being reinvested in that? It's not really a big deal to me for TLH. The reason I sold in the first place was just to change fund...

Re: Wash Sale Question

Actually, it looks like I can't even change the setting in my Solo 401k account. When I try to do so, it says "pick a vanguard fund" and there are none listed. Hmm. Not sure what to do now. Looks like I can't avoid the wash sale.

Wash Sale Question

Hello guys, It's my first time dealing with this situation, so I have a question. I recently sold (3/8) a few of my VTI shares in my brokerage account. I wasn't thinking about the dividend reinvestments occurring this month. I also have VTSMX and VTSAX in my Solo 401k and Roth IRA accounts wi...

Re: Backdoor Roth IRA being treated as taxable income

Assuming you filed 8606 for both 2013 and 2014. Did you report the conversion in Part II of 8606 for 2014? See a sample 8606 here http://thefinancebuff.com/the-backdoor-roth-ira-a-complete-how-to.html Thanks for replying, Jane. I just looked back at my 2013 taxes and no I didn't report the conversi...

Backdoor Roth IRA being treated as taxable income

Hey guys, I just received a letter in the mail from the IRS saying that I owe taxes on 11k from my traditional IRA conversions to Roth IRA in 2014. One of those was a late contribution for 2013 and other for 2014. They're considering this as taxable income, which I believe it's not. That would be do...
