Re: Loud squeaky noise when starting the car

Hope that was all that it took to repair. I don't know about your car, but the cars I own have belt tensioners that maintain proper tightness. In both cars, you either release tension to change the belt, or allow the tensioner to maintain proper belt tension. There is no other means of "tension adj...

Re: Loud squeaky noise when starting the car

I had an issue with belts squealing after they were installed. The mechanic adjusted the tensioner and it was fixed. Do you see any oil on your driveway/garage floor? Re: Loud squeaky noise when starting the car

Are you sure it is belt related? I had a car that made a belt like squeaking noise. It turned out to be the cam shaft sensor synchronizer. It was going and gave off a random chirping noise. Especially when the car was just started. The belt could be good, but the tensioner could be going. One on of...

Re: Loud squeaky noise when starting the car

Belts are not made of material that does not age and does not stretch. Yes, a belt can get hard and stiff in 2 years especially if heated and used a lot. You did not say if you drive 100 miles in 2 years or 100,000 miles in two years. You did not say if you like to run the engine hot or fast or som...

Loud squeaky noise when starting the car

So I had my serpentine belt changed 2 years ago. The mechanic got the belt from O'reilly not the best brand. Funny we were just discussing this tonight with a couple from Plano. They said it did not cut A/C (electric bills) which surprised them. So there must be more people with experience out there.
