Amazon FBA Seller

For many years I have sold and purchased, mostly sold, items on ebay as a way to generate additional income. I have had a fair amount of success doing this but its typically a way to de-clutter and any proceeds from it go into my Fido Roth. Lately I have been doing a lot of online research about bec...

Re: Worth it to buy expensive clothes?

I am in a similar situation. I am returning to the corporate scene after a few years of working retail. Took a much needed break from the IT world to do something complete different. I went to work for one of the large home improvement outfits. After 25 years of working IT i needed a change of scene...

Re: What are you up YTD? [Year To Date]

11.6 on ROTH, 9.7 on my brokerage account, and 10.3 on my 401k, all told pretty happy with my investments thus far this year. Houses in my town are doing quite well with the influx of new people moving in, thinking of moving in 2 years when my youngest graduates HS. Can sell and make a nice amount a...

Re: Television Provider Options 2017

I recently posted a similar dilemma, cutting the cord that is not the moving part. We found that we didn't need to pay almost 200$ a month for internet and tv service. So we kept internet and lowered the tv package to the absolute minimum to the point we don't even need a cable box. So our bill is 8...

Re: Thoughts on FHLC [Fidelity MSCI Health Care Index]

Sure, healthcare as an industry may do well in the future but who is to say they will outperform technology or financials, or any other industry sector? For example, would you bet on Johnson & Johnson (top holding of FHLC) or Apple (top holding of VTI)? Who knows. Great point and thanks for taking ...

Thoughts on FHLC [Fidelity MSCI Health Care Index]

With all the renewed talks about healthcare reform and more importantly with the aging baby boomer generation I am thinking of investing a small percentage of my Roth IRA into this fund. I work in healthcare IT and I see how healthcare companies are changing processes to optimize earnings. The amoun...

Re: selling before the 30 day period FSTA

I am confused. Why would you wait 30 days if it's a fund you don't want to own? What does 30 days have to do with it?[/quote] Fidelity has a not trade fee funds for which there is a 30 day waiting period until you sell or you will be charge the commission fee on both the purchase and the sell. I didn't know that was an option. I though I had to use their modem/router? How does one go about that ? Pardon my ignorance on the subject.

Re: Cancelled Cable TV Service Today... [Downsized cable service

One of the determining factors in downsizing for us is the fact that both or our children who are teenagers do all of their content consumption on their phones, not the tv. This wasnt always the case, but now they mostly watch Netflix or Amazon Prime. In the summer time they are rarely indoors so it...

Re: What Do You Pay for an Oil Change?

It seems a bit high, but then again I have been doing my own oil changes for over 20 years. I get Amsoil synth oil and filter and do it every 15k miles. The oil I get is rated for 25k miles but I just don't feel waiting that long. I usually pay $29 for all materials and on average it takes me 15 min...

Cancelled Cable TV Service Today... [Downsized cable service

...Well not in its entirety. After finally getting fed up with the cable company's high cost, I finally decided to call and asked about a lower plan. After hearing the rep's dismay and shock that someone can actually survive without cable tv service, I was rudely informed that I was already at the l...
