Be prepared for sticker shock though. For that reason, I’m hanging on to my two. A 29 year old gas truck and a 18 year old diesel truck. Both in remarkable shape.

Consider grillgrates. I don’t have personal experience with them, but they get great reviews. I am refurbing my old gas’s grill that has porcelain coated grates and I and replacing them with grillgrates. I’m normally a Kamado guy, is the gas grill doesn’t get used but a few times a year at most.

PPO Coverage Issue

Back in the second half of 2019 I needed to visit a local ER. We have a handful to choose from so I checked with our PPO website to ensure the one I chose was in network. In and out pretty quickly, no big deal. About 2 months later I got a bill from the Physician Group that works the ER at this Hospital for about $1k. My PPO Co-Pay should be $100 for this type of visit. I called the PPO provider and they informed me that the issue is because the facility is in network but the Physician Group servicing the ER is not. They told me not to worry, they would be in contact with them and get it taken care of. A month later I get another bill (same amount) so I call again. This time I took down the reference number etc so I could easily track the c...

We have 4 vehicles and usually at least one doesn't get driven enough to trigger an oil change. I change them all once a year. All (except the Diesel Truck) get either synthetic or semi synthetic. The 2 Hondas (Fit and 99 Civic with 280k miles) get Honda Semi Synthetic.

I would like to periodically load $200-$300 dollars just for the ability to send person to person (in THIS platform).

Apparently, my bank is Apple Friendly, as I recently signed up for the Apple Card, and was able to load my bank as the payment method. I have not paid the first bill yet, so I hope I get no surprises there... otherwise, I dont know how I will pay the bill.

Re: Basketball hoop that can be moved in and out of garage

We purchased one from Costco a few years back. You can fill it with water or sand. Ours is filled with water and is easily moveable. At the lowest position, it still may not fit inside a garage unless you lay it down once inside. If filled with water, you may have to drain it to lay it down (not sure). However, filled with sand it should be fine.

Edit to add...

I think that the post and backboard will lay down without tipping the base over. If that is the case, then ceiling clearance shouldn’t be an issue, and as I said, it moves easily full of water.

Re: Timeshare offer experience

To me using points on Fairfield Inn is the waste. Why would you waste points on something you could pay cash for? Points should be used for extravagant aspirational experiences you would never pay cash for. Well, if one were to use points at a Fairfield, they'd have the cash they would have spent to spend on whatever they want, whether that's an extravagant getaway or adding bacon to that double cheeseburger. I'll be staying at a Residence Inn in a couple weeks that I paid for with Marriott points. Fairfield was the same number of points in this out of the way location that happens to be around where I want to end a day of driving before finishing the drive the next day. Perspective is important... I have never paid out of pocket for a hot...

We had flew in on miles in F, were staying at the JW on points, and rented a car on points. Just happened to be walking down the beach one day when we were presented with the offer. Decided to take it. Ended up with a comped dinner at Roys Steakhouse, a few Marriott Points, and a handful of other small things. I remember telling the salesman that I rarely had less than 1M Marriott Points in my account due to business travel, so it would be a hard sale. Re: Roku - is the Express sufficient?

We have 8 Roku devices (plus 2 TCL Roku TVs). Two of the devices are Roku Express +, and they work very well with YouTubeTV. If you are still considering Roku, then I would recommend getting the "+" model of whichever version you go with. The + remote can be programmed to turn on your tv and control volume.

When we first started with youtubeTV I bought the expensive Roku box (2 of them) because I thought they would stream better (wifi). I've since purchased the streaming sticks (+), and a few Express (+) and wish I would have just went with them to begin with.

Edit - I mentioned Roku Premiere but mean Express. Corrected now.

I went through the process of thawing credit to apply today. Approved immediately. Tried to use the new card via my watch tonight and got the check mark, but the POS asked for payment again. Tried once more, and same thing. Since there was a line forming, I opted to use another card on Apple Pay (via the watch) and it worked. Anyone experience this? The physical card will arrive in a few days, but I suspect that since it is "an accessory" that activating it is not required for the Apple Card to work via the phone or watch.

Re: Your ideal home size

Family of 4 (kids are 12 and 8), and our current home feels right. 1850 sq.ft, 3 bedroom, 2 bath, full basement (half is a 2 car garage, half is playroom), 2 car attached garage (main level), 3 car detached garage, and 30x50 detached RV garage on 2.5 acres.

We recently bough a home at the beach that is 850 sq.ft., 3 bedroom, 2 bath on stilts with parking and a golf cart garage below. Though we own the home, the land is leased and it is the exact size of the house. Ive actually really came to like the smaller home, but the small lot bothers me some.

Re: Noise cancelling headphones for plane trips, advice?

I am a very frequent traveler (300k/ year), and I am going on my third year with this set from monoprice. When not traveling, I use them mowing the 2.5 acres to listen to pod casts.

The battery life is still great, and easily lasts the 15+ hours to HKG in noise cancelling mode. They can be plugged into the in-flight entertainment so you do not need to use Bluetooth for the whole trip.

Re: Dental Mishap

An update.

We have moved all of our dental visits to another Dr within the building. The Dr. that made the error has agreed to pay for all of the orthodontics work (not just the extra work created as a result of the error.)

Prior to his offer, my wife had contacted a few attorneys about recouping the costs associated with all the additional appointments, but they all said their is essentially no case due to it being primary teeth.

In the end, we have ended up with slightly more than we were asking for, so it seems to have worked out.

Thanks for the input.

Re: aerobic exercise: rower vs. treadmill and elliptical

I have the Concept 2 Model D Rower, a treadmill, and the Concept 2 SkiErg. To make room for the SkiErg, we had to get rid of an elliptical. I wouldn't replace the treadmill with the Rower (my wife would kill me), but I would certainly get rid of an Elliptical to make room for the rower.

Now I just need to get consistent again.... doh!

Re: Dental Mishap

My wife and I are in conversations with the dentist, the practice manager, and the ortho on the whole ordeal and recently requested some compensation for all of the extra appointments, time off work, driving, and time away from school... not to mention his new fear of dentists. The dentist proactively said that there would be no charge for pulling the correct teeth but kinda shut down the idea of anything beyond that and the ortho has basically donated the spacer due to the errors that the dentist made. My question to the forum.... are we being unreasonable in asking for some form of compensation for the missed work, extra appointments, etc? I get that things like this can happen, and I am not looking for legal action (as they were "b...

Wouldn't you need all adult teeth in prior to worrying about braces?
Regardless, if they pulled the wrong baby teeth and are going to pull the correct baby teeth for free and no permanent damage is done, i would probably just leave it at that and get a new dentist.
According to the orthodontist, these teeth needed to come out now (a month a go). I'm not sure why these and not the other "baby teeth" as my wife has handled most of the appointments. Since they are baby teeth, we haven't considered any legal action.... have just been considering some compensation for the inconvenience associated with the dentist's screw up.

Re: Dental Mishap

Thanks for all of the input. We will keep this in mind over the next few days as we move forward. My wife is handling it and I'm pretty sure she said that the same dentist was not doing the additional extractions today.

There is no way that I would let my dentist touch the kid again if they removed the wrong teeth.
Do we know for sure who made the error? Did orthodontist specify the wrong teeth, or did dentist pull wrong ones (i e different from what orthodontist specified?
It was the dentist that made the error and has admitted it. The order from the orthodontist and the extraction notice that I signed before the work was performed was correct.

Dental Mishap

I wanted to get some wisdom from the forum on a recent dental mishap (not medical advice)... My son needs braces in the next year or so. He had a few teeth that the orthodontist said needed to be pulled and sent the information to our family dentist. We took him for the appointment, and of the four teeth required to be pulled, the dentist only got two of them correct. This was about a month ago, and has since resulted in several more orthodontist appointments, a "spacer" from the ortho (direct result of pulling wrong teeth), and several follow up dental appointments. Today, he is scheduled to go in to have the remaining teeth pulled (he doesn't know it yet because he said he was never having teeth pulled gain after the ordeal). Fo...
