Living on a boat in HI to save money

My son works in Honolulu for the gov. He lives in an apt with his wife. They spend 4 to 8 hours a week of wasted time stuck in traffic. He's contemplating buying a boat and living dockside 99% of time and thinks he can save money.

Any thoughts of people who've done such a thing?

Medicare premium 2017 for joint filers is different.

Married filing joint return for 2016 was $104.80/month for each of us. 2017 statement from SS shows that one of us will pay $114 and the other will pay $112/month. Shouldn't they be the same amount?

Check with your water co. They offer insurance for $200/yr but check the fine print.

In MO our sewer company had a ballot issue which won a few weeks ago. Everybody pools in about $30 a year and the sewer company will take care the damage.

If you sell shares prior to 1/2012 it's up to you to report the lots you want to sell. Vanguard doesn't send the IRS what the sale was. I also sold shares that were after 1/2012 and I was able to select the lots. I did this by calling them.

I had the same problem. Your transmitter has lost it's code. Find out how to re-set your code. I agree with unplugging the power to the unit which should reboot the system. If that doesn't work re-set the code.

Vanguard might be wrong about TT being active. We still have the senate to vote on extending some taxes such as QCD qualified charity deductions. That's probably the reason I can't get any further into TT since they're waiting for the revisions they have to make before releasing it to the public.
