Re: Honda vs. Mazda vs. Ford

As the OP, this is all awesome advice and I appreciate what you all have to say. I have a used Accord now and my dad has a '14 Accord and sister a '15 Civic, so I am pretty familiar with how they drive, but for sure am going to test drive the Mazda this afternoon. And yeah, 24 with no kids/family so...

Re: Honda vs. Mazda vs. Ford

Thank you all for the responses. To the one poster about a company car, I am in sales, but that could be a few years down the road as I'm only a year in and a few years away from outside sales. I'll be test driving Honda and Mazda's tomorrow and appreciated all the advice, it seems like both get gre...

Honda vs. Mazda vs. Ford

Hey Bogleheads, Looking into leasing/buying a car here and the options are: -Honda Accord/Civic -Mazda -Ford Fusion I'm 24 with not a big savings, but enough for car payments for sure. Interested in something a little sportier with good gas mileage and good driving history. Would love to hear some t...

Re: SPY vs. VTI vs. VOO

VTI is not a commission free ETF on Ameritrade but IVV is, do you recommend that since it's commission free? EDIT: I take it back, I see it now, is one recommended over the other? If you have no strong feelings about the stocks in the S&P 500 relative to the other US stocks available (mostly sm...

Re: SPY vs. VTI vs. VOO

I already had a TD Ameritrade brokerage account so I just opened one in that. Neither SPY nor VOO are commission-free at TD Ameritrade. You should look at VTI or IVV (iShares Core S&P 500 ETF). IVV is 4 bp. VTI is 5 bp (probably on its way to 4 bp this year). I'd go with VTI for complete U.S. e...

SPY vs. VTI vs. VOO

Hi Bogleheads,

Made my first Roth IRA contribution for 2016 a week ago and looking for where to park my money? Of those three, which ones are suggested and should I use all $5500 on one or split?

Also, does anyone ever use individual stocks in Roth?

Thanks all!

VTSMX?

VOO?

VTI?

They are the three I am looking at and would like to purchase today. Any thoughts on these 3 for the first 5500 investment into my Roth? Also what are some good International ones that you'd suggest?

Thank you all!

Re: Advice for Initial Roth Investment - 24 years old

Probably just go with a target date fund or LifeStrategy Growth fund (80/20 your desired AA) that would be the simplest to manage. Using TD is fine. Note: You really only live on $6,000 per year? That's probably a bit of a typo, more like 4.5 months. It was honestly just including rent and basic fo...

Re: Advice for Initial Roth Investment - 24 years old

Welcome. It is fine to hold Vanguard index funds at TD Ameritrade as long as you aren't paying and trade fees. See if you can buy the Admiral version of the funds (compared to the higher cost Investor shares). A Total US stock market fund would be the first type of account to add to your Roth IRA. ...

My wife and I did a Disney cruise without kids, and it was much preferable to a cheaper Carnival cruise without kids. For example, both cruise lines have adult-only relaxation areas. On Carnival, they're filled with noisy, drinking college kids. On Disney, they're essentially empty (since most are ...

Alright that's absolutely the move I'll make then, park it in the money market fund right now, and then continue to do some due diligence research into how I want to go forward. For instance, I'm only 24 and a recent grad but am in IT sales. Does anyone trade/invest for a living?
