It appears that the software upgrade broke this hack, at least it did for me. I'll try to fix the hack later.
I updated that post with the version I currently have. I must have changed the replace string at some point, but it still seems to work with the new forum software.

Re: BH.org frontpage: view first unread post in topic ?

hmm it appears I may have modified this at some point slightly for a different replace. It is working with the new forum and tamper monkey in chrome for me: // ==UserScript== // @name URL Replace // @namespace https://www.bogleheads.org/ // @description replaces new post url tag with last unread pos...

Re: Max It Out Tomorrow

I will never max out on the first day again, last year sucked! I will be using a plan similar to Livesoft. At first I did not know what you were referring to as "last year sucked!". I looked at prices and saw that Total US Stock dropped about 10% over the first month. Is that what you are...

Re: BH.org frontpage: view first unread post in topic ?

This has been asked for previously: https://www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=128444 As a workaround I use the GreaseMonkey addon for firefox with this script: // ==UserScript== // @name URL Replace // @namespace m // @description replaces new post url tag with last unread post. // @i...

Swapped VXUS for VEU. It also allowed me to move to a different brokerage to simplify.

Contributed only up to the match in my 401k until age 29.
Then I found this site. :happy
Started maxing Roth at 30, and then from 31 to Present(35) have maxed 401k, Roth and HSA.

Re: Bread Machines?

I have a Zojirushi as well, one of the wider models with two kneading blades. I use it only to knead my bread, which it does a very good job at. I use a custom program where it kneads/rises and then I take the dough out and let it rise again in whatever shape/pan I am using. I have only actually bak...

Be aware if you only have a mutual fund account, and automatic investments, you will be required to send in information to verify your identity on the new brokerage account. My wife's automatic Roth investments failed after the conversion...still waiting for them to input the form we mailed back. Th...

Thanks for the links so far guys. I "think" the one I am looking for was pretty detailed about taxes and what not. I also "think" it may have been a Grandfather that was setting it up for his grandkids.

Child Roth IRA Funding Strategy(Looking for a link)

I am trying to find a link to a Roth IRA funding strategy that I think I originally saw posted here. It had something to do with funding a brokerage account early in a childs life, having it grow without anymore contributions, then later using that to fund their Roth IRA. Does this ring a bell for a...

Re: Trying to do it right the 1st time around

New annual Contributions $17500 his 401k (6% my contribution 7% employee contribution) I am not sure if you are combining your contribution, plus the match to get 17,500, but when I first started maxing my 401k I thought the combined total couldn't exceed 17,500. This is not the case! 17,500 is YOU...

My quick guess is that your salary is higher than the FICA cutoff by enough that even with the HSA deductions you don't drop below the minimum to see any savings.

Another MegaCorp

S&P 500 fund is 0.034%

Charged a $3.59 record keeping fee per month.
I am also charged with a quarterly "Online Advice Fee" of 1.87, which is a lot cheaper than the fees if I let them manage my portfolio.

Re: Tax Bracket -vs TaxTable what am I missing?

Thanks for all the replies so far, but it is obvious the answer do not match the Tax Table Linked. Using the MFJ column I took 72,500 / 9,979 = 13.64% that is not 15% (yes I am thankful for that). Using the MFJ column I took 72,501 / 9,989 = 13.77% that is NOT 25%!!! I am still missing something he...

Would it be possible to add the link to the last viewed post to the http://www.bogleheads.org/ directly?

I use it all the time while actually inside each separate forum, but I would love to be able to use it from the giant unsorted listed of posts.

I really like being able to get fractional shares in the fund and not have small unused cash sitting in the sweep acc...

In my taxable account at Vanguard I currently have shares in both the ETF(VXUS) and Investor Share(VGTSX) versions of Vanguard Total International fund.
