Always, for any purchase of any price. I need it to log purchases against the appropriate budget item. That results in much less confusion when I reconcile against the budget every other week or so.

I second the idea of buying a refurbished Windows 7 machine- preferably a business class Lenovo ThinkPad or Dell Latitude / Precision.

It's worth mentioning that Windows 7 is nearly 8 years old and will no longer receive security updates after January 14, 2020.

We just paid our 6-month Geico car insurance bill a couple weeks ago. We saw a decrease of 12.76% with no change in coverage.

It does look like they made some major rate adjustments recently. Thankfully for us it was in our favor.

I say keep it until El Capitan stops getting security updates, as your machine does not support the latest OS (Sierra).

At that point you will need to upgrade or install an OS that still gets updates (Windows, Linux).
