Re: Is there a such thing as a blue collar Boglehead?

Glad to see fellow blue collar bogleheads :) I am in the skilled trades, and work mostly in basements. Not your typical boglehead. I do save a decent amount, limited debt, and feel I have tremendous job security.

Re: Social Security survivor benefit

I will have to look into that. I know he told me due to him being disabled, he got his FRA benefit at the age of 61. This was when he was ruled disabled, or however that works. I recall he also got some backpay. So I do not know whether this is SSI or SSDI. I will ask. Thanks.

Social Security survivor benefit

I cannot seem to find this answer on Google. My MIL and her BF are thinking about getting married. He currently collects $2200 monthly on SSI at age 63. She took her benefit early as well and gets $700 a month at 62yo. If they got married, and he passed away, would she be able to get survivor benefi...

Re: Rewire Whole House Humidifier To Run With Fan

Do NOT rewire it to run with fan only. If you are really worried about humidity, look into a steam humidifier. The bypasses aren't optimal because they are pretty much a one size fits all template. The one person with a tiny house, has the same unit as the McMansion homes.

Yes I can get the index fund(s) at around .05. They tried to steer everyone into target date funds which were .49. It's just eating at me how much of a waste this .30 IA fee is. The guys who have 300k etc don't even realize it. I just feel like it's extortion.
