Re: Am I getting good advice - replace the AC, not the 21 year old furnace

The cost for furnace and air together has to be quoted by a salesman, but the technician was saying a furnace would go for $6500 - $7000 or so if I remember correctly. And the two together would be around $7500 - $8000.

Added to original post.

My 21 year old Carrier house air conditioner has a refrigerant leak. The furnace appears in good condition according to the technician (also Carrier and same age). Both were installed prior to moving in. It isn't apparent where the leak is coming from and in order to figure it out - it will cost app...

I would have gotten at least three estimates, checked references for the new work (siding instead of roofing), and would verify insurance and workers comp.

That said, if I had to choose, I'd heavily lean toward #1 - they sound like winners.

Tire Puncture - plug from outside or patch and plug from inside

My automobile tire has a puncture between the tread probably 1/4" or less (screw).

My research tells me that it is better to patch and plug from the inside of the tire and that if done this way - the tire should live out its lifespan. No need for new tires.

What are your thoughts?
