Re: Looking for safe ETFs for 200K cash sitting in brokerage accounts.

Just a little update on what I did. Stupidly I waited thinking it was best to wait after the election, and the market would possibly drop if Trump got elected. Even thought I actually felt I would like to be in the market if Trump got elected. Of course that didn't happen and there was no drop, and ...

Re: Need help about put option I sold!

Thanks guys for the responses I thought I had this figured out but it is now 4:08 PM and my May 19th put options I sold have expired.

I thought I would have 400 shares of SPY at 239, but it isn't showing this.

Is there a certain time that this assignment happens?

Thanks.

Need help about put option I sold!

I wanted to buy 400 shares of SPY so I decided to have some fun and sold a put option of 4 contracts of SPY at 239 for May 19th. Thought it would be a good way to learn more about options. I thought the option would have given me the stock at 239 if it dropped there but it seems on tdameritrade that...

Re: Traveling overseas for medical treatment

I've lived in Germany for a while. If you are in west Germany, almost everyone speaks English. There actually is almost no reason to even learn the German language, or even a few words to be honest. If you are in East Germany, still most people speak English and you will be fine, but there will be s...

Re: Have international investments been doing bad last 5 to 10 years?

I read some other posts I could find. Seems like there is no consensus on investing internationally. Some like it some don't, actually some like it and most don't. It seems that international is only good for better diversification, and will probably only benefit you if something really bad happens ...

Have international investments been doing bad last 5 to 10 years?

I'm just starting to look at my allocation and notice that compared to USA, international index funds all seem to have be trending lower the last 5 or 10 years. Take a look at VGTSX, it was much higher 10 years ago. This seems to be the case with most international index funds. Have most of you who ...

Re: Does it matter what type of college one goes to?

Many good answers here, I would lean towards it does not really matter all that much. It also matters much less after your first job. Like others said here, smarter people tend to go to the better schools, and these people naturally do better and make it seem that better schools are the reason, but ...

Re: Looking for safe ETFs for 200K cash sitting in brokerage accounts.

After watching the market tank today, and with all the talk about the free money policy stopping, it is hard to buy into the S&P 500. Even Drudge report front page was about the free money drying up. 5 years ago the S&P 500 was all the way down at 1130, now it is a whopping 2182. That is an ...

Re: Looking for safe ETFs for 200K cash sitting in brokerage accounts.

I have right now 200K just sitting in two separate brokerage accounts. I'm in my mid 30's and don't need the money. I decided that I don't trust the stock market right now and feel it is in bubble territory and is due a correction. I know many have thought this for years and it keeps going up. Well...

Re: Looking for safe ETFs for 200K cash sitting in brokerage accounts.

Is there anything that is very safe but offers a little better than a CD, that you would recommend? Maybe a bond ETF? Something where I could pull out ASAP, with only losing a few percent if things get really bad fast. I am not saying the stock market is going to go down, I just find it too risky to...

My Stock trade and how the shares were bought and sold?

Was just curious why and how this happened? I sold 1000 shares of a stock. The level 2 showed shares available for the 5.92 price, so I put in a market thinking it was safe. When I sold the 1000 shares I first looked at TD ameritrades thinkorswim software which shows all stock transactions. As you c...
