Is the rate on the CD the same irrespective of the frequency of the interest payments? Thanks. I believe the CD uses a daily average to compute the interest but it doesn't actually pay out the interest until annually, unless I specify another interval. Does that mean I would have to calculate it myself come tax time if I haven't actually received the interest yet? Ally actually disbu...

May be I am missing something here, isn't just one big 50k 5 year cd better ? That way I can get higher rate while I wait for higher cd rates. If that does not happen, I will get 2.25 anyway. If you have a million with Ally, you'd be smart to move $750,000 to another bank since only $250 is FDIC insured.
The entire million will be FDIC insured assuming the accounts are titled properly.
