OP, assuming you want to go ahead and invest anyway, you might want to ask (among other things):
- What do your brothers know about the pizza business?
- Have they run any kind of businesses before?
- What do *you* know about the pizza business?
- What percentage of your net worth is $100,000? Could you afford to lose it all if everything goes wrong?
- How will your relationship be affected with one brother if you choose to invest in the other brother's business?
This is sounding less and less like a good idea...

Outstanding work!
Would this also explain an intermittent sewage smell my wife and I experienced in a hotel room last summer?
Every time the room above us flushed their toilet, about five seconds later we would get a slug of smelly air poofing out of the HVAC vent right above our bed.
It would dissipate within thirty seconds, but still...

Re: Stipulation in a will
Thank you for the answers. I'm just trying to figure out why my son has stopped talking to me suddenly after he saw dad's will. (I didn't see the will or anything in the safe, only my son did) Pure speculation but I’d guess that your spouse left things to you rather than your son. I got more of a vibe that dad is OPs ex (thus the reference to dad rather than DH). Also OPs question implies the father may have told son he can only inherit if he cuts ties with mom (i.e. OP) and OP is wondering if that happened since her son stopped talking to her. The way OP worded "after he saw dad's will" confused me - by "dad", did she mean the son's father (OP's husband or ex-husband), or her own father (i.e. the son's grandfather)? OP...

As someone who has dealt with relatives in the aftermath of an estate settlement this is a red flag or at least raises my antennae. Please explain why this is "a surprise turn of events" before going further. Why is this a "surprising turn of events"? Are there other relatives out there who may feel that they've been disinherited?... That was my first question too - I hope OP won't have a follow-on post titled, "My mother is being sued by her siblings, what should she do?" Re: Giving High-Level Advice to Younger People If You Are Older
If anything, the two items in the original post would be the complete opposite of the advice I would give to anyone, particularly a younger person.
If I were to offer any advice (and only if I were asked), I would say:
1. Don't expect to inherit anything, and plan accordingly.
2. Assume your income might not increase, or that you might lose your job at any time, and plan accordingly.
If things turn out well, then so much the better.

Congratulations on the new job! And take your "former" former colleague (now new colleague again) out to dinner.
As for the leadership at your previous job being "disappointed", meh, you can play the world's smallest violin for them.
I wouldn't be surprised if some of your former co-workers contact you to see if there are any openings...

Water, food, shelter, self-actualization. 30 million people and growing call Texas home. Must be doing something right.... I think the "quite possible to live there but..." comment was referring to Prosper and Frisco being too far from Denton, not living in Texas in general - but yes, I thought it was not very clearly stated either. Re: Seeking advice for CA hoarder intestate estate
About the real estate - the values would likely decrease because of the condition of the primary residence (plumbing issues, asbestos remediation, etc.) And the house up in the mountains - is it rented out, or has no one lived in it for decades? Who knows what kind of condition that's in? They might both end up being teardowns, and the value would be in the land only. As already mentioned above, while I understand that your husband is stressed about this, there really isn't anything to stress about since there's nothing he or his brothers can do about it while she's alive and uncooperative, unless they just want to add more drama to their lives by having her declared incompetent. And if it turns out the estate has a low value (however he wo...

I'm assuming here that when you wrote "(21 and 6 months)" you meant a 21 month-old child and a 6 month-old child, not a 21 year-old and a 6 month-old.

You're doing great at age 26. At that age (30+ years ago), I had just come to the realization that my entire disposable income need not be spent on beer and eating out, so you are well ahead of the game.
You might consider reading "If You Can" (.pdf download) by William Bernstein for additional pointers, particularly hurdle #5 (dealing with "hardened criminals").
Also consider posting a request for a portfolio review, using the standardized template on this page: "Asking Portfolio Questions"

The Wallace Collection has an excellent arms and armour collection, if you're into that. i meant an additional sink outside the bathroom. and re the fridge, i've been burned on that twice in various cities recently where there was really no fridge. I have stayed in the Loft Montreal in St Denis a couple times - they have rooms with kitchenettes (fridge sink dishwasher stove), intended for extended stays - it will be difficult to find a room in any hotel anywhere that just has a second sink and a larger fridge, but not a whole kitchenette. The rooms really are well-priced for what you get space-wise. Some of the rooms are actually pretty large and nice, and they also have indoor parking in a secure garage (my last stay was pre-pandemic). Perhaps “outrageous” seems like a bit of an outrageous adjective now :happy Back story … I developed sciatic nerve pain (severe!) after doing something stupid at the gym. My old physical therapist, who’s awesome, said she could fit me in for an appointment. I didn’t see my GP first because I knew the problem, and knew my PT could help. OP,
1. Was the appointment after January 1st? If so, annual deductibles typically reset on 1/1, and your PT may have fallen into that amount.
2. Related to #1, when you said insurance denied the claim, was it completely denied, or did the amount fall into the deductible and was therefore entirely your responsibility?
2. Before your most recent appointment, when was the last time you were in that facility? If it's been over three years, you can be considered a "new" patient, as a more comprehensive (and expensive) workup is required.
