Re: structured notes ?

It does ring too good to be true. Essentially. Pick a time period and an assoc market, hope market goes up. And if it does ur supposed to get that percent. The argument for or against is on the downside protection- down 20% u get full principle back. Down 50% - u may lose 40. Down 80%_ u may lose ev...

Fwiw, I couldn't redeem my bonds at the bank. 1981 issues and they were TooThick for the readers. I had to mail it to the treasury in minn. they did direct deposit it to my bank however. A little inconvenient.

Thx so much. I agree with your interpretation for AA. I guess I'm really asking theories on future returns and therefore market analysis , which I know if fraught with risk, should. Scary times.. not really. Rebalance recommendations?

Have 403b/457. Both with equal weighting of fsemx, fsiix, fusex. Obviously, the fusex500 with greatest gains, fsemx with small and midcap has now turned down, and fsiix the int fund has lagged past few years , but might it turn ? Question is would you rebalance away some form the first two predominant...

Re: What we know about robo advisors

Essentially you create a pair of transactions which together are riskless but allow you to realize tax loses and gains when you want. For example buy a stock, short the call and long the put. If the stock goes up you can buy the call back, take the loss keeping the capital gain in the stock. If the...

Re: What we know about robo advisors

I am always amazed by the word play in financial industry - create more opportunities for tax loss harvesting - doesn't this mean losing money in individual stocks? Are they legally saying "we will lose money for you once you have $500,000 to invest with us" Yes that is what it means. Say you hold ...
