well with 40% of funds now indexed, investors are obviously learning the game

The goal of Wall St is to dumb down the public, make them think investing is complex, and to use their firms and advisors to generate outlandish fees
FYI-40% of funds are now INDEX FUNDS-the PUBLIC HAS CAUGHT THE DRIFT!!!

put the cash in tax free munis
you need to simplify and put everything into vanguard

Which do you prefer long term? Individual munis in 5k denominations or a tax free bond fund.
I have built a portfolio of individual munis over 40yrs
The default rate on investment grade bonds is miniscule

yes you will need 2 million at retirement with a safe withdrawal rate and SS for both, you will be fine
when you reach your goal LOCK IT IN as best you can(marginal utility of wealth)

make sure you include small cap, intl stock and bond, em, reits and vanguard total stock

With 2.2 million and withdrawal of 3-4%, there are no issues
Keep80% in bond funds and the rest in stock index fund
She cannot run out of money
