This is an excellent post. Risk tolerance is a very interesting issue. In the long bull markets, investors think they have high risk tolerance. I remember bear markets. In bear markets all of a sudden people's risk tolerance quickly changes.

GDP growth rates are much higher in emerging markets.

On valuation, stocks are heaped in Europe and Japan.

Not thinking of timing. It seems maintaining the barbell approach over long time has less risk and about same reward as keeping money in sp 500 fund

I wonder if in the current market a barbell approach makes more sense. Put lots of money in money market and a small amount I aggressive growth.

Setting aside the theory, I lost half oy my money three times with buy and hold. I am 70% in vanguard sp 500 fund. What does everyone think of the risk in this market? Make has gone up. I am thinking of rebalance ngth by moving half to cash.
