Is it also too high to contribute directly to Roth IRA? That limit is quite a bit higher.

I think so. I made 407k in 2016.

BD Roth IRA

Hello, I need to set up a BD Roth IRA. I have read a lot about it on this website and others. I just want to be clear on a few things. My income is high enough not to qualify for any deduction in Tira. Here are my questions: 1. Why not just leave my money in a Tira rather than convert it using BD? S...

Re: Is Personal Injury Protection Necessary?

I am a personal injury attorney in Utah. The laws are different in every state. In Utah, it is good to have PIP because it offers $3,000 for inital medial treatment or more if people buy it. Why should you have to use your health insurance and be subject to copays, etc for an accident you did not ca...

New 401k admin

My employer now has ADP taking care of our 401k plan. The default fund for me is the TR Price 2050.

Should I go with this or a growth or aggressive growth?

I'm a fine with a lot of risk because I am just 34 yo.

Trying to decide if I should mess with changing it or just stick with the 2050.

Re: Other investments?

You didn't seem to mention regular (taxable; non-tax-advantaged, as in not a 401k or IRA or similar) investment accounts. You can easily set up a couple more mutual funds or ETFs there and go on your merry way. Or were you asking about ideas other than that? Yeah, this is what I am looking at. Ther...

401k contributions

Some guy at work is trying to tell me traditional 401k contributions for 2016 can be made until tax day in 2017. Then he thinks he is eligible to contribute another $18,500 between April 16 and December 31 for 2017. Is this correct? I think he is nuts! I might be eating crow tomorrow I guess.

ADP 401k

My employer is switching to ADP for its 401K plan starting in January. Any specific recommendations on what I should use within ADP to grow my money?

34 years old
I will max it out and my employer matches at 25%.

Sofi just approved my $100k loan at 2.5% for 5 years. I have been paying 6.8%! I will pay the $30k debt this week. I can still accelerate the payments on the $100k even with maxing out the 401k my employer matches at 25% and my BD IRA. 2017 plan - Maintain 2016 income Max 401k with match Max BD IRA ...

Re: How much should I hold in savings/ student loan help?

Let's say my monthly expenses are $9,000 per month. This includes $1,500 in minimum student loan payments. How much of my $130,000 in savings would you apply to the loans today?

How much should I hold in savings/ student loan help?

I make around 400k per year which started this year. In 2017 I will max the 401k and match as well as a BD IRA. I have $130,000 in student loans. I have around $130,000 in my savings account which is gaining next to nothing in interest. I have a mental block about letting this go below $100,000 whic...
