Re: 2018 Honda Accord

Accord wins another round this time against the new V6 Camry. Ride and handling are better which is far more important to most than 0-60 but it edges a win there too.

Re: Reasonable HVAC Quote?

Update on my Carrier install - after a week with the new A/C we were very unhappy with one issue - NOISE!! The Comfort 15 is much noisier than the 16 year old builder grade unit it replaced. Working with the dealer to upgrade to an Infinity unit. In the middle of a heat wave here (record breaker to...

Re: Garage Parking Aid

My wife pulls her car into the garage forwards and we use a tennis ball on a thin rope for her car. I back into my spot and wanted something that would make more noise so I drilled a small hole in a golf ball and used a hot glue gun to secure a rope into the hole. Works very well as I hear a distinc...

Re: Reasonable HVAC Quote?

Yes, you haven't changed your ductwork. See if you can compare the old and new indoor blower cubic feet per minute (CFM). Higher CFM through the same duct area means higher velocity and more noise. Nothing to do with air flow in the house. Variable speed fan is now so much quieter than the old furn...

Re: Reasonable HVAC Quote?

Is noise from compressor or condenser fan (outdoors), or from blower indoors? Noise is from the compressor (85%) and fan (outdoors) 13% and blower indoors (almost silent). They came friday and installed some insulating jacket on the compressor motor but it did very little (kind of like taking a bab...

Re: Sanity check on home purchase numbers

I regret not buying one particular property when we were almost exactly at your ages because my wife and I thought it was "too much" based our incomes at the time and aversion to debt. Within 5 years my income had doubled (and 10 years later has more than doubled again). That home's price at the tim...

Re: Tesla Model 3 or Chevy Bolt?

My 2016 Mercedes diesel gets over 1,000 km a tank and I can do a 12 hour day on a serious road trip with only one stop to fill up. I LOVE range!!!! I AM thinking about a plug in hybrid as a second vehicle ONLY to get access to the HOV lane during my commute. Even though I can afford a Tesla I would ...

Paid cash for a 2016 Highlander Limited in February and after only a few days decided I hated it primarily due to very uncomfortable seats. As a tall male the seat back at the top pushed my shoulders forward in a very strange way I haven't experienced with any other car. Made me feel like I was a hu...

Re: Any way to improve single stage snowblower?

Yes. Sell it on Craigs list and buy a good used two stage 24 inch or larger snow blower machine. Wet snow is impossible with a single stage machines. And from my experience a good shovel is better than a single stage blower. Good Luck. My previous experience and the best move ever was to upgrade to...

Re: Paying mortgage down to $1M - am I thinking about this correctly?

None of my business but would love to know the financial details of these couples with seven figure mortgages. I would hope their net worth is over $5 million and household income of at least $500k. I am too conservative perhaps but the only mortgages I have are on investment properties. My commerci...

They have a portfolio of homes and yours will never be their first priority plus most of them want a ridiculous commission on the income. I use VRBO ver...

I own a commercial property with two tenants on triple net leases. Headache free. I own a nice vacation property on short term rental market which has been fantastic. We use the property 30-40 night a year and still bring in income that doubles expenses (and I include every possible penny of money s...

Not something you can or should do with VRBO.

VRBO is excellent and have used it for years with zero issues. Currently on vacation in Hilton Head staying in a nice condo we found on VRBO.

The Sante Fe only comes with a 4 cylinder (2 versions and one is turbo charged) unless you go up to the Sante Fe XL model (7 seater) which only comes with a V6. Both are great vehicles. I would buy either one and likely be very happy with it. The Sante Fe has been doing well in all reviews and compa...

Re: Stay off the Ontario 407 ETR! [Electronic Toll Road]

I live in Ontario 5 minutes from the 407 and use it fairly often. It saves us lots of time and the road is in perfect condition. There is rarely any congestion even in rush hour commuting unlike the other major highways around the greater Toronto area. We have two transponders so no video toll charg...
