Re: Dish network

I don't know about snow because we don't get any here, but wind, rain and clouds have never caused any signal losses for us. The new Dish receivers are advertised as being capable of recording 16 channels if that is important.

Re: 2018 Outback Limited vs. 2017 CR-V EX-L

As far as buying the '17 CR-V EX-L goes, I would strongly recommend you consider the Touring model if smooth/quiet ride and superior audio system are important to you. We are also interested in the CRV, do you have any idea what is different on the Touring model that makes it smoother and quieter t...

Re: Any Ford Escape drivers in Boglehead-land?

I have a 2017 Escape AWD as a work vehicle. I've only put 10k miles on it so far but no complaints here. I am averaging 24mpg combined city and highway driving. I do a good deal of highway driving though. I drive a lot and have had many different vehicles and can be nitpicky. If I had to nitpick it...

Re: "Luxury" Vinyl vs Laminate flooring?

We've had the Karndean Art Select line of glue down LVP in the kitchen, dining room and bed room for about 3 years now and it still looks like new. We had carpet installed in the living room at the same time and it already looks worn, we will be replacing it with LVP next year. I was worried that th...

Time Machine is an option in settings which will automatically backup your computer once every hour. If you have this option on, try disabling it. kjvm Okay I think I've found it, it looks like my WD MyBook external drive is the Time Machine and is updating every hour. Turn off Time Machine. It gets extremely burdensome on older iMacs with non-SSD storage. Backup manually every-so-often overnight. Do not use the automatic backup feature. We have an 05 PT Cruiser with the 4 cylinder turbo. We're at 100,000 miles with no engine or turbo problems and have used regular grade gas and conventional motor oil exclusively. It seems silly to use premium gas if the manufacturer recommends regular.
