We just changed our A/C habit after 5 years and our costs went up by $60/month. But, wife is happy.
That is a 30% increase in electricity usage.

1. Pick "real accounting" software, not a glorified checkbook. QuickBooks is good, but pricy.
2. Search for online accounting software.
3. You won't find an iPad app as it appears that no one will pay more than $3.99 in the App Store. Well, there is one for free, but the reviews are awful.
