Re: How many miles/years do you keep your car?

I drive a 2012 Prius and plan to keep it several more years. I love the MPG but the car is boring, loud, and kind of ugly. That said, I hope it will serve me well for a few more years. My next car will probably be a mid or top-trim family sedan (Accord or Sonata) approx. 3-4 years old. I have a 201...

I'm a fan of Dockers Slim Tapered pants. They are truly slim and look pretty sharp. Very cheap at Kohl's when on sale.

Re: anyone else not liking the new cars?

I'm actually the opposite, I think the old Lexus cars were ungodly ugly and boring, the ONLY good thing they had going for them was reliability. On the other hand the new ES and IS looks actually have me considering Lexus. For the first time ever I walked by a Lexus, stopped and walked by it again ...

I'm pretty satisfied with my 1080p setup: RX 480 8GB GPU, Intel i5 6500, 16GB RAM, etc. It plays all recent mainstream games on Ultra with 60+ FPS.

Someday (3+ years I imagine) I'll build a 4K gaming rig.

Re: 2018 Honda Accord

Camry has that extremely goofy looking grill. Toyota seemed to go all weird with their designs, the Prius is hideous. What other model does Toyota plan on screwing up next? Having seen the new Camry in person, I have to agree on the grill. But the honeycomb grill that comes on the SE and XSE looks ...

Has anyone else been reading the reviews of the '18 Accord and/or planning to buy one? In the first head to head I've found (Motor Trend), it really outclasses the new Camry in just about every category: http://www.motortrend.com/cars/honda/accord/2018/2018-honda-accord-15t-vs-2018-toyota-camry-25-c...

Re: 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid EX-L???

I would drive your car(s) for another 3-4 years and then purchase one of the new model Accord Hybrids. The reviews are generally glowing - better fuel economy, quieter, upscale interior, etc. I believe the 2018 hybrid goes on sale in January or February and will have the exact same trunk space and 6...

Re: BH phone review: Moto G5 Plus

Thanks for the review. Coincidentally, I ordered one a few days ago and just received it. I didn't realize my old phone had a larger SIM card, so I need to take the Moto G5 to AT&T tonight to get a nano SIM. Not a big deal, but I thought I'd be able to just swap in my old SIM. This phone seems to be...

Thanks for posting this information. I don't think I got an e-mail about the plan changes, but I read the documents on the website.

I guess I'll just use the BlackRock S&P 500 and Russell 2500 funds with tickers to track the corresponding CITs in the NYSDCP.

For higher quality, the best bang for your buck is Brooks Brothers during one of their large sales or Suit Supply. That said, if you know how a suit should fit you, you can go to Macy's and pick up two suits for around $400 during their big sales. They will look sharp and last long enough considerin...

Re: Subaru to Prius?

You will not get the mileage you are expecting on the Prius for short drives - it takes a while for the car to warm up. Also, battery warranty will not last much longer on the 2009 and it's two generations old - if you do this, get at least a Gen 3 (2010 on). The Subaru is a more comfortable ride a...

Re: Changes to NYS Deferred Compensation Plan

I'm thinking of leaving the NYSDCP because of these changes and rolling over my funds into a Vanguard 401k. I like Vanguard's transparency and simplicity. This may not apply in your case, but those with 457(b) accounts can withdraw contributions AND interest at any age provided they no longer work for the employer with whom the account is held.

If you want to do a Three Fund portfolio, Schwab has everything you need at very low ERs:

Schwab Total Stock Market Index (SWTSX)
Schwab International Index (SWISX)
Schwab U.S. Aggregate Bond Index Fund (SWAGX)

Personally, I really like their website and customer service.
