Re: Should I sell my 2016 MDX and just lease? Minimal mileage needs

Long story short... I bought a 2016 MDX new November of '15. The car has all the bells & whistles short of the top trim entertainment package. I paid the car off last December and thought that it would continue to serve as our family vehicle until my grandmother passed away. My mother received a ra...

NO... Listen to me, please. Have a body shop perform two hours of work and take out your front wheel well liners (the plastic liners that surround your front tires. Re: Placing a market order over the weekend

Thankfully USAA cancelled my order before the start of trading. I would have taken a hit of $500 - $600. I did pretty well with this ETF when oil was in the high 20's but my luck has since run out. I'm starting to think that oil will indefinitely be stuck in a $50 - $60 holding pattern thanks to how...

Re: Placing a market order over the weekend

Thank you for the information. I was able to successfully cancel the order. I feel like a moron for not putting the order in on time before market close now that I see oil is up $2.72 at this point.... sigh.

Placing a market order over the weekend

I nearly maxed out my fun money, 20k, Saturday afternoon in my USAA brokerage account by placing a market order for 900 shares of PSCE at around 21.75 (an oil and gas ETF) shortly before Saudi Arabia and non-OPEC nations came forward announcing an agreement to curtail oil production by another 600,0...

Re: I bought the wrong car - know it after 15 days

Problem Solved: m How does this fix the "too low" problem? I am 6 4 and drive a 2016 Acura MDX. The seats are awful; you won't notice while test-driving the vehicle but you'll definitely feel discomfort in your lower back after a long drive. I purchased the same product five months ago an...

Re: U.S. stocks in freefall

Hmmm.. looks like a moderator deleted my reply.. Fair enough. The point I made in my original post is that I am going to stop worrying about ups and downs and whether I'm leaving or jumping in at the right time. Rather, I'm simply putting my money in a solid index fund and leave it be. I originally ...

Re: U.S. stocks in freefall

I'm taking an opposite approach here... I moved everything to stable value funds ("sold" when you look at my attached image) when the marked peaked above 18k last august before the first correction and shifted back to VIMAX 100% ("bought") at just under 16000. While I went 100% s...

Re: It sure looks like a good time to invest in oil

I parted with an amount of money I don't care about losing,7K, and split it 50/50 between USO and PSCE. Why these two etfs? They closely track daily oil price fluctuations. At this rate of emotional price swings, the Saudis could propose a "cut" in production, which only turns out to be 5%...

Re: I would like to short a stock that just reverse split.. how the hell do I short?

Thank you for all of the feedback; I'll be the first to admit that this whole process is confusing and well over my head. For some reason I had this idea that shorting was simply gaining on a loss by a few percentage points or in multiples just like a gain on a stock that doubles, triples, etc etc. ...

[How do I] short a stock

Peabody Energy Corp, BTU, is a dog that constantly plummets and the stock just did a reverse split before going below $1 a share and is now at $18 a share. Since coal is all but dead and this stock is only going down, how can I profit off of its demise? If I purchase $4,000 in shares at $15 and it g...

Re: I simply want to beat inflation with my cash savings

I am EXTREMELY grateful for the wide range of thorough responses I have received in reply to my initial question. I do like the idea of a six month emergency fund and then moving all funds in excess of that figure to index funds. I've grown increasingly frustrated watching every bond fund yield nega...

I simply want to beat inflation with my cash savings

My wife and I have no debt, max out our IRA and 401k accounts, and usually end up with a good bit of cash in our bank account that goes unspent. We typically end up with $5,000 in cash each month after expenses. Where can I put this money so that it at least outpaces inflation but is still readily a...

Re: What does the market want?

My main concern - if China, Europe, and pretty much the rest of the world minus India are now experiencing stagnation or recession in conjunction with commodity prices that have been lagging for years now , with the exception of oil which has just recently joined the mix, what is the spark that will...

Re: U.S. stocks in freefall

Thank you guys - I genuinely appreciate the advice and how involved the community here is in helping those who are new to the markets. I'd hate to be the person who sat out the opportunity to jump in during the 2008 crash. Unless I take action now, I could very well be the person who sat out the ris...

Re: U.S. stocks in freefall

A genuine question for those who believe there is nothing to fret about; what potential GOOD news do you see coming out in the next few months that would counteract the collapse of the global commodities market and China's declining importation of said raw materials? I am in a position to gamble giv...

Re: Jack Bogle: How to handle the market's wild ride

I will be honest.. I got spooked at 18,250 and put everything into a stable value fund. I then took a gamble and put all of money into Vanguard's VIMAX on Tuesday after the blood bath that was Monday. I saw an increase in four days that I would expect to see in an entire year. Now here's the issue.....

Circuit breaker pulled - catastrophic losses across the board. I am vigorously patting myself on the back for pulling everything out at 18,250.

Re: U.S. stocks in freefall

Long time lurker.. No debt, 30-years-old, 30k in cash and 75k in bonds. I moved all of my funds from my workplace Charles Schwab RGAEX fund once the market stagnated at 18,250 a few months ago into bonds on a hunch (fortunately the hunch was a good one... so far.) As I am in a position to take more ...
