As far as I know, she can't save in a Roth IRA account because our income is higher than 196k but she can contribute 5.5k a year to traditional IRA and then perform the back-...

Emergency fund - in Prime Money Market?

I wondered what do people here do with their emergency fund.
Where do you put it so that it will both be affected by inflation as little as possible while also keeping it liquid?
I wondered if Prime Money Market is the most popular approach for that around here...

Re: Building my taxable portfolio from scratch - W&W and 4 funds

Thank you all for giving your inputs, I appreciate it. I'd like to point out something I might have missed regarding my tax-advantaged accounts. I feel they're somewhat irrelevant because the amount of money in them is relatively low to what we have in total and will earn in the next few years. And ...

Re: Building my taxable portfolio from scratch - W&W and 4 funds

Thank you for your comments. onourway - We do have retirement accounts but I feel they're irrelevant because of their time target differences. livesoft - I see what you mean regarding that Total Bond Market Index. Actually I don't have anything against tax-exempt muni bond funds, except for the fact...

Building my taxable portfolio from scratch - W&W and 4 funds

Hi all, I've been reading a lot about the 3-funds asset allocation and I've also been invested in the stock market for the past ~5 years, so this is not new to me :). Before I start writing about my personal portfolio doubts, I wanted to ask something. Why are everyone here only talking about the 3-...
