Help - Sleep Deprived New Dad Rebalancing

My son is 9 months old and does NOT sleep. I am dealing with extreme, long term sleep deprivation and trying to rebalance my portfolio for the first time (joined the Bogleheaded way of investing last year). I’ve made some crazy, sleepy mistakes these past few months and don’t want to make the same w...

Re: High Expense Ratios - Advice?

Thanks to the great advice and encouragement on this forum, I am finally on my own! It was all a bit scary at first, but liberating. It didn’t help that I got a Late Sale Violation email from Vanguard after my very first transaction. You would think I’d be told about settlement dates during the sell...

Re: High Expense Ratios - Advice?

Now I understand! Moving my rollover IRA to my 401k will open the way for tax inefficiencies once I exceed the IRA contribution limit. At that point I can establish a backdoor IRA without complications. Thank you for clearing that up....and all the great advice so far. So this is where I am landing ...

Re: High Expense Ratios - Advice?

I think making a 5% switch towards bonds would not represent too much of a sale of stock when the market is down. At your contribution rate, you could then direct contributions to bonds only in tax deferred for a couple of years and get close to your desired AA. This is a good middle ground. Thanks...

Re: High Expense Ratios - Advice?

Good stuff! Thank you all very much. I will look at my account information to find the basis for the taxable funds and also start a Roth IRA. I also didn't realize VEIRX VANGUARD EQUITY INCOME was not an index, so will likely remove that from my 401k selection. I would be interested in hearing any a...

Re: High Expense Ratios - Advice?

Thank you for all the good advice. I do intend on moving everything in my taxable account from my current broker to Vanguard. Is your asset allocation currently 100% stock? Avi Since 11% of portfolio is in the T ROWE PRICE RETIRE 2035 fund, then technically I do own some bonds, but not much. If so, ...

High Expense Ratios - Advice?

I’ve been with 2 different financial advisers over the past 15 years and since reading Mr. Bogle’s book Common Sense Investing, I now understand the long term impact of high expense ratios. My initial plan is to invest in the simple 3-4 fund portfolio, but I was hoping to get some advice on my choic...
