Hi Ralph, thanks for the reply, the lump sum is tax neutral (ie the organization reimburses the taxes on it) so that wouldn’t bump up the IRRs.

I live in France and would encourage you to create your own tour. France is the kind of place where you will want to linger and walk around at your own pace. In the cities, you can always find an organized tour for a museum, wine tasting, basic language lessons (which I very much encourage!), cookin...

Anyone taken a mid-career sabbatical?

Has anyone here ever taken one? What did you do? Would you recommend it?

I'm late 30s with good savings but not near retirement level. I'm thinking of one as a way to test some passions, travel and basically have new experiences I can't manage now with an intense job.

Hi all, I am slowly adding to my portfolio after an absence from investing. I'm a 41yo American living in France.
