Dan: All of these affiliated sites are Canadian, so why the American flag? Blbarnitz 17:29, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Barry: The issue is that the flags are visually associated with the whole page, not just with the affiliated sites. To my eyes, it makes the Bogleheads wiki site look Canadian to have two flags there. Think of the US and Canadian flags as representing where we are and where some of our links are to.

Your call, of course. --Dan Kohn 18:00, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

I attempted to add small (20px) flags to the sidebar listings (which could also replace the Canada designation) but I did not have the proper coding syntax for adding the images (they show up in preview, but not in the saved page) Blbarnitz 18:26, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
LadyGeek: My page. I did this to give visual balance. It looked better, never thought that it would make this site look Canadian. However, I see Dan's point. Do we have any UK links yet? My thought was to add a UK flag and redo the layout to give a more international flavor. LadyGeek 20:00, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
LadyGeek: I updated the layout to put the flag next to each link. Visually, I think it associates to just the link. Should be better. I left the original code, just commented out. Be sure the column widths add up to 100%. LadyGeek 21:13, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
We have placed a small union jack on all pages in the United Kingdom Category The category currently contains one page and two stubs. --Blbarnitz 22:59, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
LadyGeek: An Affiliations page provides links to other web sites for whom we have a member relationship with (grammar!?). Currently, both Financial Webring and finiki contain references to Bogleheads and vice versa. Although the UK category flies the UK flag, it's not an affiliated web site. Are there any other forum sites that we have a true affiliation with? LadyGeek 00:04, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
At present, only the Canadian sites have affiliations with us --Blbarnitz 00:41, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Could we please rename Affiliations to "Other Useful Sites". I don't think affiliations means what you think it means.Dan Kohn 01:23, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Renaming the title might go down the wrong path. I'm using "affiliation" in the context of "associate as a member". Specifically, to close the circle of a webring. In this case, the topic is finance. Bogleheads --> Webring --> finiki (--> Bogleheads). Note how the Financial Webring gives us a very visible link at the top of their page. Finiki has copied our wiki Portal style as well (implemented by Shakespeare). Perhaps "Member Sites" would be closer?
If we changed the name to "Other Useful Sites", it loses the intent and is already covered in Financial Websites and Blogs. I'd like to keep things consistent with accepted usage. If you still think otherwise, let's get a few more opinions... LadyGeek 02:38, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
How about "Partner Sites" or "Sister Sites"?--Dan Kohn 12:50, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
"Sister Sites" is a term often used to describe our relationship with the Webring :Check here and here --Blbarnitz 16:56, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Sold! Done (this and the main page). I also updated the development main page in case anyone wants to experiment. LadyGeek 21:16, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, guys. --Dan Kohn 04:21, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
