Is it clear what this page is about? I want the reader to use it to answer the question: How do I determine how much risk I need to take? How do I make an AA plan?

Sorry, it's not clear. Remember that an asset is defined as something you possess. I'd rename (move) the page to be just "Asset Allocation" and start defining what an asset actually is with regards to investing. Give some examples (stocks, bonds, etc.). Then, start discussing about how to determine allocation.

I'm open to a change in page name. I'll think about whether the page needs to include the definition of an asset. For the moment I would like to presume the reader knows that. This page is about answering the questions: How much in bonds? How much in stocks? Should I go 90/10, 70/30, or what? This is about determining one's asset allocation, hence the current name. Just "asset allocation" or just "asset" would work well in the glossary. I think. Sewall 01:36, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

OK now I think the name is not right. This is really "investment planning". Perhpas that's a better name. I don't know how to change the name. It isn't critical to do it now.Sewall 13:44, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Did you get your answer about renaming a page? It's called move, a tab at the top of the page (it should be to the right of history). I added a link to the wiki tools and calculators page.

Sewall, I really appreciate the effort, but I just want you to realize that your effort will likely be severely cut to meet Wlki standards. Note the strictures for sourcing, no original research, objectivity. The page should provide general principles applicable to all investors, without reference to one long extended example. Got the message. I think I'll step aside. I don't mind the editorial standards. But I wasn't even done with a first draft. I should have done it offline but I didn't. In our cross-edits I lost a big addition. That was a valuable lesson. I'll do things differently next time. For now, I'll let others complete this page. Sewall 19:13, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
